But where did you hear about urin tests in spain? :? :? :? :?

Is taht something the police do to tourists when they arrive? :? :? :?

Just cos Ibiza means clubbings+drugs+sex+sand for you doesn't mean that the millions of tourists arriving every year are looking the same :? :?

coffeetime. the majority of ibiza's visitors are not clubbers. the ratio is about 4 to 1 and if you have any doubts then a simple piece of mathematics may help to prove this.
let c be the number of clubs
let a be the maximum attendance in any one night
let n be the number of nights they are open in a 3 month season

then c x n x a = the maximum number of clubbers in a year if the clubs were chocker every night (which they are not)

Coffetime, I'm bored to discuss with you, firs of all, do you need to write 1000 lines in every post? 8O
Second, you are talking from you point of view and you can't move from your point of view. Catalunya, my region, is the first touristic destination of Spain, mainly british and, oh surprise! Catalunya it's not clubbing paradise 8O 8O 8O Oh surprise! People have fun just sitting in the beach or walking down las Ramblas 8O
Third, if there was urine tests... If there was a civil war? if there was peace in the world. I would tell how we call in spanish this kind of dissertations but the slang filter would put lots of ****
Four, don't you think that Eivissencs know better than you, who has not been there, what's the best for their island? :?

2million visitors go to IBIZA every year! 700.000 of them being from Britan! now of course I dont have the stats for how many dont come to party but I can imagine and so can everyone else! most of them do!!!

then you are imagining wrong.

the islands 'clubbers' are mostly packed into 2 of the islands many resorts.

you have the (wrong) impression that so many people who haven't been to the island have: that it is full up with clubbers from north to south and that clubbing and drugs is the only thing the island has to offer.

well wait until you've been and then see if you think the same.

i'm not claiming that club tourism isn't important to the island. it's important to hotels, bars, employment etc.

but - it is not what ibiza is all about and if all the clubs close tomorrow then ibiza will still have a substantial tourism industry.

ok then most people dont come to ibiza for partying..
I guess I was wrong.. thats cool..
I thought most people were partying.. when ever you see on here, tv, etc. you only hear about all the parties all over the island ...
but I guess the families really out number the parties..
thanks for pointing that out.. no one else did..

stuie speaks wise words.

the image of ibiza is far from the reality. i speak to so many people in my age group who are absolutely flabbergasted to arrive here and find that the island is not in fact overrun with clubby types.

(although reading dj mag you'd swear there was nothing else here!)

Did you study the island or did you study about clubbing in the island?

i think i've said before that me floating about with a snorkel on does not good television make!

however somebody in a club with their tongue sticking out (why do they always do that on photos?) is particularly good for mtv etc and so that is the image of ibiza which proliferates.

Perhaps a new scene for Morbyd's next Ibiza director's cut?

not that I really care..
and yes I am tried of this discussion too.. becuase it seems like you people cant debate! you just want to prove you are right. but saying I am wrong without actually putting anything forward..
I am NOT stuck on my view point at all!!

but I should just point out to you.. that you are wrong! and this comes from the spain government website!

The most popular resort areas were the Balearic Islands and the Mediterranean coastal areas. The Balearic Islands generally accounted around 34 percent of the number of nights spent in Spain by foreign tourists; the Costa Brava and the Costa Dorada, stretching from the french border through Barcelona to Tarragona, accounted for 22 percent; and the Costa del Sol and Costa de la Luz, extending from Almería on the southern, or mediterranean, coast to Ayamonte on the Atlantic coast at the Portuguese border, accounted for 12 percent. The distant Canary Islands attracted 13 percent of Spain's foreign guests, and Madrid received an 8 percent. Cultural festivals were instituted in Santander and Madrid in an effort to increase the attractiveness of these cities. The seaside resorts continued to dominate the tourist industry, despite a considerable effort from the government to stimulate interest in visiting historical and cultural sites.

really who cares... I dont want to fight with anyone here..
man I all I said was.. drugs +partying are a part of ibiza.. if you dont agree then so be it.. im not trying to argue thats just my opinion..

Coffetime, I have to go now but tomorrow I provide you with the touristic information cos it was released yesterday.

I do like to discuss but we needed one long page to make you understand that there's more options in Ibiza than clubbing ;)

NO silvia.. I KNOW there is more to ibiza than clubbing..
everyone is confusing what I am saying..
and I cant seem to make my point across ...
so I think I will give it a rest..
I know there is much more to IBIZA than clubs! and I will be enjoying those other events.. I know there is more to see on IBIZA than inside PARCHA! its an island with tropical weather and blue water and white sand. thats why I am going!
to get away from the 12million peole concrete jungle I live in..
the clubbing is another option..
I wouldnt fly 15 hours to go sit in a nightclub all day on drugs!!
as you just stated above.. there is more to do on ibiza than do drugs..
and my arguement was.. that many people do come to do drugs..
and many do come to not do drugs..
so I really dont understand why everyone is slamming me!
sure someone pointed out that the ratio was 4-1 I never knew that!
thats great! now I know..

you didnt say that at all - that's what i've been saying!

you said that clubbers outnumber other tourists, that most visitors to the island take drugs etc. and i pointed out to you that this is incorrect. debating is fine, saying you've studied something for 3 years to validate your point, when you clearly havent is a bit bizarre!

even now you still say Silvia is wrong? but the text you have posted doesn't show she is wrong!

(ps. deleting posts that have been quoted is pointless!! ;) )

this..
and I quoted from a site which states different.

she said that Catalunya is the first tourist destination in spain!
the number one place tourist visit.. right?
but this passage from the government website says its not! in fact the balearics are..
I said that drug users are in higher number than others to the island..
I ment to say that in the club scene of iBIZA becuase this was the foundation of the debate.. so I meant to say was..
the drug users in the clubs. out number the non drug users in the club.
now of course I am only guessing.. and I am happy to be corrected..so I dont go around thinking otherwise.. this is just what I have read..

and deleting posts.. well I was trying to delete this debate from my mind hahahahaha so it did make me feel ok for about 30seconds.. 8)

Coffeetime,
Spanish people mainly go on holidays in Spain, we travel lots around the country and most of us spend our summer holidays in any of the islands, in the mediterranean coast or wherever. We are national tourists and that quote talks about foreing tourism, so probably we are both right ;) I'll try to find for you the total numbers :D

We started discussing about drug controls in the island and you seemed quite worried that it would mean the end of Ibiza as a touristic ressort and we pointed out the touristic map in the island. And then we started discussing the national touristic situation and I don't know if we are talking circles or it's a missunderetood or what

I just came back from the island and I don't mean in any way to critizize the drug policy in Ibiza, just wanted to say it's just as visible as ever...As it isnt't anywhere in the world
