there was no music at all this afternoon. can you imagine the garlands pre-party without music? :?

btw, a little bird told me that it was actually sunseabar who denounced them to the police..........

that place was really good when it was all coastline. i think its a shame that a great bar like that was split into two.

MarkSimpson: How far is it going to go this year?

josé manuel bar: the policia nacional and the guardia civil have as objective to end with the tolerance to consumption. we detected some bars that dont care about the consumption and sale of drugs in their premises, and these will be sanctioned.

and now in english:

Police to Focus On Pre Parties.
The police chiefs on the island are going to put into operation a coordinated plan to attack drug dealing taking place at pre parties for the big discos. This change in policy comes because the big discos are taking action over the drug problem but have apparently complained that their clients already arrive under the influence of drugs & with more to take from the pre parties held all over the island. The police also say that this type of action will hopefully reduce the impression that drugs are available any where & everywhere both day & night in Ibiza.
At the same time a clamp down on drink driving & speeding was announced with traffic police stepping up their checks & operations on the island.

in related news, there was a drug bust last night in san antonio which end up with various lookie-lookies arrested (diario de ibiza says 29, ultima hora 15/20 and on the radio i heard 26) after the investigations in 2 phone call centers (c. ample + c. vara de rey) and 3 houses:

 letter appeared today in diario de ibiza against coastline cafe, signed by 8 pissed off neighbours

Over 26 Persons Detained.
In what was described as a carefully organised operation carried out in the West End of Sant Antoni last week, the judicial police & Sant Antoni local police detained 26 persons mainly of Senegalese origin on suspicion of selling drugs & other illegal goods. Certain business premises in the area were also searched & the police supposedly found 100 ecstasy tablets & other illegal products such as pirate CD's & fake luxury items. Whilst more arrests are possible as the investigation unfolds, most of the 26 were freed apparently without even going before the judge after being held in police cells for the maximum 72 hours permitted by Spanish law. It appears that 5 men remain in custody & 2 of these possibly do not have the correct papers to reside in Spain.
Some of those detained later gave the local media their version of the events. They said that they had supposedly been mistakenly detained when the owner of a phone shop was detained with drugs in his car & this led to the police searching the phone shop. They then apparently detained everyone they found in the proximity of the premises, which supposedly included 2 women & at least one 14 year old boy.
Those released complained about the treatment they received from the police. They claimed they were interviewed one by one & made to sign documents with out the presence of a lawyer or translator because the police supposedly promised them that if they did this they could go free. The detained men also said that the building they were held in was badly equipped & that they only had tap water to drink.

there has to be drugs in IBIZA.. the mayor even knows it.. but he has to make a few arrests to make it look like they are trying.. but in all reality the ibiza government knows if they come down to hard and start making strict laws and punishing users then it wont take long before people move on to another island which is more relaxed! its hard for the lucky luckys they are the ones who will get shafted.. the BRITS and tourists coming over to party get nothing even for buying it from the luckys.. which is the way it should be! but FACT IS.. there needs to BE drugs available on IBIZA! if its not.. there will be a shortage of people..

I don't think thats right. The overwhelming majority of Ibiza's holidaymakers don't take drugs.

Ibiza doesn't get rich on drug money. The clubs and some bars wouldn't rake in as much and some wouldn't survive but to think the island would be on its knees if we didnt go there to get f***ed up is a bit silly!

By all accounts the government are trying to draw in the more mature, monied holidaymaker now.

I dont mean the island will be on its knees!
but there will be a major shortage if another island opens up and starts to show less strict laws, have promotors bringing over Djs,and opening up some cool super clubs, bringing over the djs, it wont take long 10years or so before this new island is the leading island.. an island is a business just like a club.. if you build it they will come..
about IBIZA, the 7 club owners of ibiza now.. will never let this happen either. they need the drugs, they want the drugs. of course I have no idea the ratio for drug users to non drug users. but I can imagine there are many users. so if the government start doing club raids, and urine testing all the people like they do in south east asia, it wont take long before everyone says *beep* this! lets go to cyprus  or some other place.
sure holiday families, honeymooners, familys etc come to the island mostly. but those resorts that hold them dont make even half the money a club like SPACE or pacha makes.
60euro to get it.. man thats more expensive than the hotel!!!especially after a few drinks thats almost 100 euros each person..
the club owners will never allow drugs to be controled like it is in south east asia..
if you ask me.. drugs will be on IBIZA for ever! becuase the clubbers out number the holiday makers..

you really don't have a clue  i'm not claiming to know how Ibiza's economy works etc, but i think the bits of your post i've highlighted are wrong!

did i not see you write on another post that you haven't been to Ibiza yet?

Coffeetime said:
if your arguement is that IBIZA will not lose any money if all drugs were gone on the island. then so be it.. I must disagree with you..I think the island will be weak at the knees!

no, thats not my argument. i'm saying it's not as important as you make out. the clubbing season is shorter than the overall tourism period and it's actually a small percentage of visitors that go there for the clubs!

of course SOME hotels and restuarants would notice a drop in trade.

if you have been studying Ibiza's economy for 3 years then you would not make statements so stupid as:

"drugs will be on IBIZA for ever! becuase the clubbers out number the holiday makers.."

and this:

but you wont see hundreds of thousand people coming over for august to just lay on a beach!!

enough said.

Coffeetime just few points:

- Ibiza is part of Spain, in Spain dealing with drugs it's ilegl. I don't knwo why Ibiza should have a special tolerance just cos it's clubbland.
- Not everyone into clubbing is on drugs.
- Thanks god there's hundreds and hundreds and hundreds than appreciate the island much more than sit in the hotel swimmingpool drinking dirty sangri and waiting to get funked in a club

And, I don't really know what you are trying to say with this

so if the government start doing club raids, and urine testing all the people like they do in south east asia

so you're backtracking and your 3 years of studies on Ibiza no longer conclude with your absurd statements i've highlighted above then?

stop rambling rubbish!
