As a few above posters have alluded to - their business model has found balance.

Agree. While I feel a bit like I am supporting big-business here, at the day DJs cost a hell of a lot and the door tax probably covers their fee only on some nights! With the likes of Solomun probably commanding €100K a night (and why shouldn't he when his names is on the night and he's filling the place with 3,000 punters) Pacha/Space still have a lot of wages to pay and other over-heads! So if you can make 85% margin on a bottle of water, then that's how you make your €€€!

When I was at Elrow/Kehakuma last year, the bars were virtually dead all night (yet it was a busy night).

Is powdered alcohol really gonna take off?!?!

People need to drink fluid when dancing - whether it be alcoholic or otherwise - anyway. Having alcohol in liquid form is very convenient for that social aspect.

I just don't believe the effects of alcohol are attractive enough to the human mindset to consume in power or tablet form.

Nowadays I'm fairly alcohol-sceptic anyway, so maybe I'm biased, but can anyone see the appeal in: "pop one of these, in half an hour you'll be paralytic!" ???

Not really appealing to me but to dodge the club prices when am on the White Island it is.

I just wish a vodka was dropped to 10e that's sort of my limit for being acceptable.

Then again lower drink prices may lower the quality of clubs and reduce the islands reputation. You don't exactly see magaluf have a global audience ha

If that is true, that is just insane. As i know Solly is in his prime right now, not that my opinion matters in the case of him getting paid but I just dont agree with that priceline for a total of 6 hours music (solo + b2b set). I know big names get people through the door but I just do not understand how paying one person that much per evening is ever beneficial

I honestly don't know if this is correct. But work out the maths in terms of door tax. His name IS the night, so why shouldn't he get this! Pacha have a highly paid Commercial Star: Guetta and a highly paid more underground star: Solomun. Both totally help their brand!

Ok, just got back, paid 26 euros for 2 Estrella's downstairs in Amnesia, upstairs in vip, paid 27 euros for one Estrella and one water!! I'm sorry but that just takes the f*cking p*ss. I know vip is slightly more expensive but 27 euros for the sh*ttest local beer on the island and the smallest bottle of water you can possibly get is ridiculous. Been going 16 years and this was the first time I have been properly disgusted by the drinks prices.

Also, Bora Bora was pretty reasonable a couple of years back but now they class 'evening prices' from 4.30pm and a bottle of San Miguel is 8 euros, Corona 9 euros. Although if you order a pint of beer you do get a proper pint glass (seen people say on here it's plastic)...so I guess we should all be grateful for that! ;-)

And on another slightly different note....asked to book a table for sunset at Mambo's and was informed that it would be a 70 euro minimum spend per person. First time I've ever heard of that as well. Maybe cos it was July...don't know. Pretty shocked. Ate at Savannah's instead and watched sunset from the rocks at Mambo's.

Otherwise a great holiday as usual! ;-)

What are the drink prices like for beer and spirits at No Name and Beachouse?

Makes me laugh that Bora Bora are charging so much! We still have two glass pint tankards from years ago when the waitress kept the change and wandered off - so we kept the glasses!

Someone on here said 5 euros for a beer at Beach house....but....we went there at 11pm last week for Guy Gerber's Rumours and I have never seen somewhere so packed in my life. Literally, bundled our way through the crowd to get outside on the beach, stayed 15 mins and left. Would not have fancied my chances getting to bar let alone buying a drink. No Name is probably more reasonable for drinks...one day we walked all the way along the beach from the Salinas end to the Ibiza town end...past all the various bars and beach clubs...No Name was the loudest and most banging by far. Louder than Bora Bora even. Had a good little vibe going on, I'm sure would have been wicked a bit later on...but didn't stay for a drink

Just got home in the early hours of this morning after my 2 week trip, one thing for sure is that the pours certainly ain't what they used to be, a long glass with the ice cubes added were only a quarter full with spirit, gone are the days when it was half full and almost too strong to drink............pretty sure I was of the same opinion last year.

Is this true in general?
I haven't been in Ibiza for years and I'm considering going in September. Drinks were always expensive but I put up with it because they were strong. If I have to pay even more and get much less I will definately reconsider.
