Someone told me that the water in Privilege is ok to drink as it has its own spring.

correct. but as with all spring water on the island, the amount of chalk in it is too high. no drama if you drink it for a week, but in the long haul it's no good. you know, up north the water is actually really OK, but it still has too much chalk so people that have drunk tap water here all their life tend to get kidney stones because of this.

I agree 5€ for a bottle of water should be enough. dc10 charges 5€. eden 6€. not sure about es paradis, but the rest of the clubs still charge way too much.

Only way to enforce it would be to create a law I suppose. I don't care if they charge €25 for a Vodka BUT a bottle of water should be max of €5 when you can't provide suitable tap/drinking water. In the UK that would be illegal but this is Spain!

I don't understand why people drink vodka red bull. Costs a bomb more and I've read it's actually just as bad for you as illegal substances on the heart

Arguably a lot worse. But it's all relative... volume consumed, period of time consumed over, age, health/medical conditons etc. <<< that being true of both narcotics & energy drinks!! :spank:

I remember going to the downstairs bar in the Amnesia main room and asking for a coke, simply out of absolute dehydration.
She quoted me 15 euros (which surely can't be right?!) so I asked for a piece of ice from the ice buckets that they stick in drinks, and just popped that in my mouth and let it melt instead.

She wasn't happy.

Surely if the drinks were cheaper, people would buy more drinks and also tip more?

So a win-win situation all around!

No. People would binge drink, get too drunk and make the clubs look like something from the north of England. The alcohol prices in my view work (controversial view I know) by ensuring that some 19 yr kid doesn't down 10 vodkas and vomit over the place! It's water that should be €5!

I'm not saying that drinks should be 1e each! But the clubs would likely make more of a profit if they lowered all drinks.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, as water is only a couple of euro less than beer, many people will drink alcohol over water, when they really should stick to water.

all depends on Individuals causing problems when binge drinking.

You could just get absolutely Phil Mitchelled before you enter and club and still cause binge drink problems.

Even vodkas at 10e would make a huge difference I would defiantly be more encouraged to spend more.

Yeah, I get you. All I will say is the big boys (Pacha / Space) have been doing this for 20+ years. The money men and the party men have probably found the perfect balance and have a solid business model that works best for them. Could Pacha halve the price of its drinks and make maybe a little more profit with the increased volume? Maybe yes... but you'd have more drunk people, more trouble/fights more people required to serve them behind the bar, more door men etc etc. As much as we moan, Ibiza is a place people save up to go to and will factor in that it's €15 a drink when they plan and budget... And .... A hell of a lot of people take drugs (so I'm told) so the people that do drink help pay the DJs fee...

Also as mentioned above, I think many people tend to drink a LOT more before they go out than they normally would, as they may not be prepared to spend €€€€€ in the clubs.

Going back a few years (2011-12) a straight-up Coke in Pacha was €6-7. Which - in that season at least - worked out marginally cheaper than their btl of water. And you got more fluid for your buck if you requested no ice.

I don't for one minute condone or enjoy spending €10 - €15 on a single drink, but there are other factors to consider. Yes, it's a rip off. But if they did decrease prices they'd have to hold considerably more stock on site. Is there space for this? Would they run out? Does the islands infrastructure accommodate this: delivery lorries, warehouses etc.

Bar waiting times would increase - ppl will simply buy more drinks as their money will be going further. They'd have to employ, train & pay more bar staff, laymen, supervisors, which in itself is costly.

Is there even space behind the bars for more bar staff - let alone extra stock?

As a few above posters have alluded to - their business model has found balance.

The water price though - that's what irks me, and what I consider to be a separate issue from the price of alcoholic drinks.
