Does anyone else not want kids?

Ooh... that always drive me nuts

With apologies to you and the other parents here....

I just don't see how your decision to breed should get you moved up to the front of the line! Especially when these kids are going to keep us all awake on the whole flight

pay for speedy boarding then

better still dont be a tight arse and fly budget airline, go with someone who has business class ;)

Theres a good reason for this too, that being families need to be sat together.

What age were all the parents when they had their first sprog?

For those who had them 30+ .....did you feel like you were an "old" parent? A friend of mine is 33 and desperate for a kid. She keeps on saying "I can't believe I'm going to be an old Mum!"

One thing that sticks in my head is that my parents were "old" (for the time) having me at 34. If I also have a child at 34, they'll be nearly 70. By the time my kid is 10... well... you never know do you?? I'd like my children to know my parents, that's what's sticking in my head at the moment.

I'm 33 and it feels about right. Certainly not to old.

One thing we noticed going for the scans is that we were often amongst the youngest there.

I think this is a product of it being more difficult to get on the housing ladder now. When the average age to buy a place is 32, it's unsuprising that that kids get pushed on.

Your right, you don't know how long people are going to live, but it could equally be to 100.

I was 30++, the biggest downside has been neither of my children ever having met my mum or dad. My oldest boy now 6 has started asking questions about my mum and dad and why he only has one nanna and grandad:( Upsides are many imo, for most 30+ parents are likely to have more disposable income and be more worldly, live in nice area etc etc.

The only time the older parent thing bothers me on a day to day bases is in the school yard whilst chatting with the much younger yummy mummies:D

I don't fly budget airlines very often (as we don't really have them here)

I was speaking in general. Regular airlines with assigned seats have this tradition as well. That's where it makes no sense to me.

I suppose there is some sense to the practice when you're flying budget and don't have assigned seats... although then I could say that you're the tight arse for not paying for priority boarding when you're then one who needs to make sure you're sitting next to your kids :p

hmm, assigned seats doesnt make sense as you're all sitting together anyway, perhaps something to do with the prams going into the hold?

you dont have budget airlines, you have state budget airline A3POFLOT

Speedy boarding is the ultimate fools gold. Paying to sit in another seat for the same duration. Madness.

Whilst you say it's the parents who want to be sat next to the kids, i'm sure they would happily leave them next to you to mind whilst they got some peace!

To be fair I can see how annoying it must be for people who get held up by families with kids when they are travelling.

But believe me, they will be having a much worse time than you, so give 'em a break.

Like the Honda advert said "We're all just trying to get somewhere"

I wouldn't care to onboard an ailing sea vessel with my wife and children if Morbs was in da house, none of this women and children first:lol:
Damn straight

Exactly!

But I get equally annoyed by a) people who don't know how to get ready for security and are still taking their belts and shoes off when they're already at the metal detector, b) people who don't get out of the aisles quickly when boarding, c) people who take forever to get their hand luggage and get moving when exiting the plane... and other various inconveniences
