Personally, its such a bad move for pacha IMO. Of course everyone has different tastes. But i really did think that pacha got their nights spot on last year. A great mixture of music. You had renaissance for your trancey, proggy, deep house music. Sasha, zabiela, cattaneo. Along with deep dish, underwater, sancehez, def mix, pure pacha. All nights were superb and offered something a little different, and it was encouraging to see pacha move away from there usual 'housey' tip.

Taken defected on, to me it seems like they've gone back a few steps. Which is a shame.

Of course, If Defected get Danny Krivit, Louie vega, Kenny dope, dimitri from paris et al every week then that will be good but if they just stick to their guns and have sandy riveria etc etc, who i'm sure is very good, then IMO its a bad move.

But i agree for Defected the label its a move in the right direction.

I'd have prefered underwater cos I never got a chance to go in previous years, yet always wanted too..

to be honest Tuesday i'll prob spend just drinking in a few bars so it wont affect my holiday or clubbing plan at all

Personally I think it's made the Pacha weekly line up a little bit weaker, with another same as same as night.

I think it's one of the most unoriginal and uninnovative things that Pacha could have done. A few years ago they had Renaiisance on Weds, Perfecto on Tues, Ministry on Fridays, now they may as well just get Hed Kandi there as well and have a full week of same old same old funky house.

Maybe Defected will suprise us and we'll see people like MAW, Krivit etc appearing regularly for them but from Defected nights I've been to in UK they tend to be few and far between and it's the same old people appearing week in and week out.

What ever happened to people just going out and having a bloody good night in the company of friends, despite which record label/dj is in attendance?

I've heard one or two shitty sets in Ibiza clubs but we've always had a great time.

And why is everyone jumping on the bash-funky-house-music bandwagon all of a sudden?

Maybe some of us are more into our music/DJs than others and if we're going out maybe 10x clubbing in Ibiza we want it to be a DJ we really like and who is going to excite us rather than playing the Best Funky House hits of the summer. I know for one, me, Tom and our friends always decide what nights we go to on line-up above anything else.

I fully understand that, but you may be pleasantly surprised with a more commercial lineup.

I was dreading the opening night of Hed Kandi at Bed but promised some friends i'd go and ended up having one of the best nights ever and the music was far from 'fluffy', especially in the other rooms.

I'm probably wrong as i don't always appreciate how die-hard some people are with dj's and stuff.

Exactly.

The thing is, for me, when I chose my nights based on the DJ line up, 60% of me is interested in what music he will play, whereas 40% knows that "that DJ" attracts a certain crowd.

By the time the word about Defected has got round the island, it'll be full of west-end types, just like Hed Kandi is/was. Which, depending on your viewpoint, is a good/bad thing.

Lovely looking girls in tiny skirts and highest of heels, walking out by 4 because they're knackered, and boys saying "allreet I fookin luv this funky house man".

Don;t get me wrong, I like Hed Kandi/Defected music, but the crowd they attract is embarassing.

I would agree on all counts, it would be the crowd the nights attract that put me if anything.

I never slag anything off til I've tried it out for myself and I'm a big believer of trying anything once.........so I went to a Hed Kandi night once and it was the worse night clubbing of my life  I've been to a few Defected nights when they were @ Ministry and they were ok, I just left feeling a bit unsatisfied, kind of like what I'd imagine eating a Big Mac to be like

I think the reason Hed Kandi did well at Bed is because Bed already had a highly respected line up most weeks and always attracted a great crowd.

I've never been and would never go to HK at the Republic however as we all know what kind of crowd go there nowadays. Probably the spill overs from some Friday R & B shite.

There is no bandwagon, i still love funky house, i just think Pacha 2005 lacks diversity and personally i'm not impressed by hardly anything Defected does these days.

Your comment with regard to going anywhere despite who's playing suprised me, I thought you would realise how important that is for most people with all the waiting for line-ups to be published, speculation and discussion.

You don't go to an indian restaurant if you don't like indian food do you?

i love my funky house.

DJs will always play to the crowds. but cant please EVERYONE.

christ, if u need pleasing, take yr ipod with u!

I would. I'd complain that it was 'a bit spicy'. But then that's me all over. (Contrary, not a bit spicy)

If i really liked the Indian restaurant and could tolerate the food, yes i would go.

I go to Space/Pacha because i like the clubs, despite which DJ is playing unless (as x-amount pointed out) i felt a certain label/dj would attract the wrong crowd.

It's all down to priorities i suppose, as long as i'm enjoying the company and the surroundings i'm happy.
