I rarely get involved in any debates on this site but I'd really like to give my two pence worth on this, because of how strongly I feel about DC10...
I think it's amazing and very cool that some of the people on this site have been clubbing forever and were lucky enough to experience the making of history, if you like, with regards to the music and some clubs, etc.
And because they were there through the most awsome, ground-breaking moments, I can understand that things at the moment seem a bit less great, less exciting, more commercial, whatever.
But not everyone was as lucky as you guys, to be a part of that. For example I only discovered house music about 5 years ago, but then it changed my life my life completely. Also, I've only been to Ibiza 4 times, and 2006 was my first DC10 experience. And it was, for me, simply the most mind blowing experience EVER - the people, the music, the atmosphere, everything about it. And I've been going out pretty much every weekend for these past 5 years all over UK clubs, festivals, and seen probably over 80% of DJs so I'm comparing to a fairly decent clubbing "career".
So, just because we are younger/late developers or whatever and weren't there with you when it was all brand new & underground, we are still perfectly entitled to love it as it is now! Because for us it's still is amazing, new, different .... please don't spoil it! especially by wishing that it gets closed down

why should a place get closed down just because you don't enjoy it any more - maybe you can go to other clubs and discover some new amazing places and will come join you in a few years if we get tired of DC10

(obviously, not that your wishing could just make it happen but you know what I mean...)
And just the last point, about the music, and then I'll stop my rant...
My music taste has evolved over the years as I got more and more involved into the scene, so I have to say the evolution of funky house-via whatever - to minimal techno isn't really such an unusual thing, and certainly not bad. Why can't people change their taste, as they discover new and better things? Or why can't they get tired of funky house, for example, just like some of you got tired of DC10? I know that Mixmag is a funny mix of useful, useless, stupid and downright mad, but when I was first discovering clubbing and had zero knowledge about it, and didn't have many friends into it to share it with, Mixmag was invaluable to me - learnt a lot (such as where to go out, what's wrong with that) and felt I was part of this great community...
So all I'm trying to say is there will always be new people coming into the scene (well, unless we'd prefer dance music to die out!?) and for them, your old and worn out experiences, will be shiny and brand new. We'll never agree on DC10 is good/bad because we simply come from a totally different perspective but that's ok?
Anyhow - I'm sure this will cause a few more disagreements now - but I just thought I'd share with you what I think about this....
