Different strokes for different folks.

   You're determined to spoil my 'just got engaged haze' aren't you   ;)

I've just turned into one of those moaning 'it was much better back in the day' types haven't I

Yes let's move on to wedding and dog talk (have I told you how happy they were to see us yesterday, I thought they'd been on the speed how excited they were to be back home 8O  ).

(PS DC10 was still way better when it first opened  ;) )

I've still not met the doggies! 8O

(Space looks like a leisure centre/swimming pool and the terraces are rubbish :lol::lol:)

To play devils advocate:

I think it's just as moody as its always been.
When it opened it was just as edgy as it is now. It's just busier.
I think it's much crazier now too so I actually prefer it these days.
...I don't understand the Mixmag bit - isn't Space full of exactly that: Mixmag readers and San An types?

Yes, gone are the days where it was more DIY and big names turned up for free, but the novelty factor could never last forever.
I also miss the scuzzy loos and the Space carry on aspect.

...but for me, it's much betterer and still just as crazy - anyone who looks at utube can see the evidence.

WLS has rapidly went down hill ,the music now bores me and i definatley wont be back to it ,it was just all the "oh you have to go to WLS " rubbish ,as if its some kind of ritual:? :? :?

As for the Mixmag point if you have ppl only going to ibiza on a 2 week holiday every year how else do you expect them to hear about clubs like DC10:?: It doesnt mean there not into the music.

Sorry, by the Mixmag comment I meant the types of people who were into funky house a couple of years ago, electro last year, minimal techno this year just cos they've heard it's the new 'cool thing', that's what spoilt the atmosphere for me, these people that 2 years ago had probably never heard of DC10 let alone been there and are just going now cos it's where they've read that's where the 'cool kids' go.

We were laughing after DC10 and saying 'what happens if next year trance is brought back as the next 'cool' thing and they start playing trance at DC10 (and they did actually inside when it first opened 8O  ) would everyone be into trance  ;)

Yes let's get back onto safe ground with doggie talk  ;) Tom was saying in Ibiza that we'll have to come over to yours and take them out in Victoria Park, I'm planning on a 'quiet-ish' October so let's get a Sunday in the diary ;)

(   All I can say to that is you missed out on Sunday with Danny T on the new terrace  ;) )

It was my first Dc10 experience last day of july this year!!! and I thougth it was an amazing experience full of very friendly and smilie people!!! great time !!!:D

Yeah i know what you mean but i felt in space on a sunday and dc10that like you are saying people werent there for the djs etc just there because they want to say they have been. Dont get me wrong i loved ibiza but i did find that something that took me back a bit.

There's always going to be idiots everywhere, I think in DC10 it's easier to notice them more these days cos the club hasn't got any bigger whereas Space is at least 2x the old size so you can ignore them more easily.

Anyway glad you enjoyed your hols, we must have been at some of the same nights if you were there for DC10 the same Monday as us.

lets be honest...it's what you make it isn't it??

Oh yes completely, we left and crowd-wise and some of the music was some of the worse I'd ever experienced in an Ibizan club................but we had a fantastic time cos we were with like-minded people and just spent the 6 hours in there dancing round like loons scaring people with masks and random dances  ;)

Yes - great idea! We'll sort that one out. I have to go home and look at my calendar tho cos I've forgotten when Miss Kittin is doing Bugged out. :?

I love doggy time! I have a frisbee they can play with and everything! 8O

just got back from 8 days on the island & it appears the roadwork development will affect the DC-10 site in some way, the plan was to make yesterdays the last one & Superfreq has been pulled from wednesday. I heard they were hoping to go ahead with the closing party though next week.

I hope they knock it down anyways, its gone past its sell by date, it was amazing until a couple of years ago since then it has always been a massive disappointment, Hawtin & Villalobos b2b at 6pm on a monday night ffs. Magda was average & Steve Bug was amazing & that was it

the place gets full of idiots by 4pm & the coppers are all the place like a bad rash

A little bird told me they have been quite heavy handed with their punters this year ;)

the bouncers beat one guy up very badly when we were in the queue on the way in, got a right good kicking especially after he had gone down & couldn't defend himself anymore. The Guardia Civil just looked on with amusement.

I'm not too fussed about not being allowed back in after leaving, was in a world of woe for about 30 mins & I was never going to survive until Cocoon and Steve Bug had just finished a blinding set, all in all it turned out very well. Nipped back to San An, fillet steak in Villa Mercedes, power nap & then onto Port De Torrent for the afterparty. Hannah was a bit miffed though as she had got me on the free list for Amnesia.

Katy, Charlie & Mike are coming up with me to london for the Fabric b'day weekend 20/21, Stanton Warriors, Plump DJ & Scratch Perverts on the friday & the usual plus Andy Weatherall on the sat, are you & Tom around?

Also, Garnier playing at Audio in Brighton on the 13th

John mentioned this... I am suppose to be looking after my Gran  for two weeks from the 21st Oct. I could do the Friday but I am afraid I can't meet Charlie and Mike (even though I am a bit confused about what Mike is)
Plus Tom is working on the Saturday so he can't attend, so people can't come back to ours.

I jumped on the bandwagon this year, having gone off space over the past few years.
I loved DC10 and loved the happy crowd. :p

My 2 cents...

I only went to DC-10 for the first time this year in July and I think as a newbie it was my fav clubbing experience. Getting there at 2pm helped because it wasnt busy so you could work yourself into the atmosphere and by the time it was packed you were warmed up and felt at home

Comparing the crowd to all other events, thought it was pretty "friendly", which is a pretty broad definition anyway. Wasnt the mad carnage I was expecting / hoping for but was a great party felt the crowd was a lot better than WLS which I thought had a lot more "brits on tour". Where we were dancing we got chatting with everyone around us and were laughing and messing around all day...met some proper characters

Can understand that if you have been going there from when it was an underground place for those in the know as hard as you try there is always going to be a sense of "it was better in my day" purely for the fact that DC-10 was (is?) one of the last remaining relatively uncommercialied events...But I do remeber reading Mixmag in 2001 and seeing an article about how DC-10 was the new big thing!

I reckon that it only takes a few smiley people dancing around you or equally a few miserable bas*ards to change your perception of an event. This whole "edgy" and "moody" thing doesnt really hold having been to various raves in London over the years...DC-10 is along with most of Ibiza a happy and fun place with maybe a few guys that need to remeber to smile :D
