on the balearics we've only had 19 new cases in the last 24hrs which is only 1.3% growth which is really good.
Do hospitals on the Balearics cope well? The death rate is kind of high, meaning lots of cases must pass under the radar.

The rule for only going out for exercise, I'm sure some people don't get or have zero brains/common sense.

Saw a father with 2 young children sat by the river bank, and then proceed to move and sit *on* thr river bank foot path people use for 20 mins?‍♂️

And then I see a group of 3, 2 men and one woman. The woman was in a full length black evening dress. I mean if you are going out for 'exercise' at least try and look the part ?

Completely get why people want to go out, but still?‍♂️
We have a railway with a small river and footpath running alongside, so it's a nice mile walk there and back. Everyone was behaving themselves, but unfortunately no full length evening dresses, not even on me. Folks had to put up with my hideous Decathon-specials grey shorts instead

there isn't such a widespread testing going on in spain (as is the case in germany for example) so yes, there are definitely a lot of undetected asymptomatic cases.

I think the two big hospitals over in palma had a few moments, but as far as I know no real coping issues. the problem areas in spain where the hospitals couldn't cope anymore were mainly madrid, barcelona and to a lesser part the basque country I think

I live in London and one of the boroughs next to mine has come up best in a heat map study to say they are actually spending the least time out of the house. In this borough most houses are within a 15 minute walk of either Clapham, Tooting or Wandsworth commons. I was in Clapham common the other week and it was pretty cold but sunny and it's probably never been so busy at that time of the year.
I've never seen so many people going out on walks across the green places as i do now, although the streets are clearly less busy in general. I'm sure people that normally sit in their rooms and never leave as soon as they finish work are now going out simply because they are told to exercise for their mental health, when it has never been a problem before.

I must live near you {Kennington) and I regularly run around Battersea. Yeah it’s heaving right now, but we really shouldn’t judge. There are loads of estates around Southwark, Lambeth, Vauxhall. Plenty of people live without gardens or balconies and basically live in shoeboxes. So if they aren’t even walking anymore to the tube to work it’s the park or nothing to get out the house. I was last in Battersea park on Thursday and everyone was obeying the rules. That’s in contrast to Burgess Park yesterday where it was picnic central. Fortunately the police were around and telling people to move on. They of course shouldn’t have to, but such is life.

Very close! I'm close to Stockwell, can walk to Kennington Park in around 15 mins.

Yeah, I think London is accentuated because of the amount of people that don't have gardens, plus a lot of houses around here are 6 beds etc so they have a lot more people in a smaller area.
I have however lived in Clapham for 2 years before now and the common definitely seems busier of late in terms of walkers, less people sitting about obviously though which is good. I have found a lack of people avoiding others though. For example if a group of 3 people are walking towards others they don't split apart they often carry on as a line of 3.

Superb.

When this is all over need have a beer mate!

I’m in Wallsend and if your family need anything when your away and your stuck give me a shout.

I’ve been watching Star Wars from the start with my four year old which has been magic, watching the films together then an hour of light sabre fights when I come home from work

Also started doing some 5K runs and challenging myself that way.

What a ledge! Outstanding mate, thanks for the offer ?

Bloody hell, I'm actually living in Wallsend now too! Not far from the Golden Chippy mate. I'm originally a West End lad, so I've totally traded up and feel like I live in Bel Air now ?

Haha brilliant, can just imagine your missus bollocking you for having light sabre fights round the house ?

Ah thats good you are getting the mileage in ?‍♂️ you might of seen me on the roads, I always wear a maroon tshirt. And look like I'm going to have a heart attack. Hairs so long it blows into a crazy looking middle-shed, looks like I've just ran in from the 90's ?

Aye definitely mate, soon as the boozers are open lets do it! Should try and get a Newcastle Ibiza Spotlighters piss up on the go ??

I’d jump on the train from leeds and make 1 in!

back on the coronavirus subject. I'd like to pick @Hurr1cane 's brains since he seems to be the best informed on this.

here in spain they said that today was the first day where in all autonomías (our regions) the R was below 1. a little hurrah but I understand it was just one day for now (I think the balearics alone have had their R below 1 for a while already).

on the other hand, the much talked swedish model, where in the past few days numbers have gone up quite a bit now.

what do you make of those numbers? what's your conclusion so far? am genuinely curious.

I tend to believe that Sweden will eventually have to move towards a lock down or at least do more than what they are. From my reading, the Swedes are actually taking this seriously and reducing activity without a formal order -- many of the pictures you see of packed places are old and misleading -- but I still think they need to be doing more.

I base this off the number of deaths they are reporting (Currently 887 deaths on < 11,000 confirmed cases). If you look at other countries reporting between 800-1000 deaths you can see something looks off -- Canada 23,000 cases 650 deaths Switzerland 25000 cases 1000 deaths Turkey 52000 cases 1100 deaths. It looks to me like Sweden is missing a lot of cases and its hard to control what you cannot see.
