As I alluded to, it reads like they will use the Balearics as a "test" in the coming weeks/months, maybe "open" one part (which could be Ibiza) and see what happens, and if it's good then open Menorca...and then Mallorca. If they did that and saw the figures rise back in Ibiza then we go back to the current restrictions.
Moral - before anywhere is even partially re-opened they will have to be sure of the consequences otherwise they will be accused of using the local population as guinea-pigs if death rates increase again.

that is only a theory for now, it's just the health responsible guy from the balearic government who said he'd be up for that. let's be careful not to spread fake news on here ?
 
If by some miracle tourism reopens in September (for arguments sake), everything open, clubs, bars, hotels etc, I wonder if it would be rammed on a scale never seen before or actually pretty quiet due to people still being worried and watching money? It would interesting

Personally I think the best we can hope for this year is everything opening apart from the clubs, gradually start to reintroduce some normality, get the island used to having visitors again, in preparation for a full-on 'proper' season in 2021. That is my guess. At least restaurants, beach bar owners and the like will still be able to make a bit of money before winter...
 
WHO have issued a warning not to lift lockdown to early or there could be a second wave

It's all in well lifting the lockdown to save economy and people getting back to normal life (or new normal) but if it is at a risk of second waves not worth it

Japan also declared state of emergency now

Yes proper season 2021

Bars open late in the season

It would be interesting to see if it is rammed or not... I think may well be ok busy with families
 
personally I like it quiet. my kind of party is a tiny room with 30 diehards getting involved, my kind of beach is a deserted one with still water at 7am, my kind of road is the kind you have to yourself, my kind of sunset is a handful of people huddled together and a few drummers. experiencing that in the summer is normally impossible so gotta say my tail is tentatively wagging

Would rather purposefully infect myself for immunity than take a vaccine that has been rushed through in the last 4-6 weeks.

It will be near 2022 before you are able to get a reliable/safe vaccine for this.
 
Won't the tests on the vaccine require volunteers anyway? Here in Manchester we had a firm producing drugs and vaccines who advertised for local students who would be paid volunteers. Presume the same thing will happen with this new vaccine?

True. And actually...I'm not that scared to get infected now.
Call me crazy, but as far as I know...I'm not in a risk group...so I would rather get it now and be immune.
Actually knowing that you already went thru it might make life a lot easier in the coming months. Would be a totally different story if I were in a risk group or had people im seeing now that are in a risk group but that's not the case.

the big unknown number is the months you're immune for once you had it...
