I found it interesting the theory they might be injecting the vaccine into a vein instead of muscle. Thus the vaccine infects platelets which make protein spikes and sometimes have this rare clotting reaction. Why AZ worse for that than say Janssen/Sputnik vaccine, I dunno.

Some countries changed their injection advice to aspirate first to see if in a vein or not.

There's always the possibility the vaccinators are to blame, or didn't dilute properly etc. Much more likely is simply that these cases are no more than background cases. It is extremely unlikely that this is an "AZ thing". But it is a very useful deflection from any problems associated with other vaccines with megabucks at stake if they were to be discontinued or stopped on safety grounds.

The age cohort manipulation in Europe is very conveniently timed to push use of the AZ onto older people now supplies are pouring in. That is the cohort they need to see vaccinated ASAP. Their own healthcare workers have made a big song and dance about feeling a bit fluey for a day or two after AZ (when studies actually show pfizer is not much better) so it keeps the healthcare workers happy if they all get to have the pfizer by default on account of their ages. EU also fears vaccine hesitancy in the young - so give it to the old who are afraid of death and keep the others for the young.

The whole thing just seems stage-managed, even a child could put it together. I could actually do a great Sesame Street cameo where they all come up with it. Haven't seen any credible scientific basis for stopping AZ - there is a massive collapse of confidence in it, all manufactured by an incompetent set of European governments with political and economic agendas. All we are seeing is a ham-fisted response to try to limit the damage they created themselves now they have "as good as" seized supplies of the vaccine.

Following his address to France earlier yesterday about severe new lockdown measures, President Macron has made an extremely surprising statement apologising to the UK for his attacks on the Oxford/Astrozenica vaccine. He has also publicly admitted that France's whole stance has been a reaction to the Brexit debate, and has stated that France will cease all restrictions on UK/EU trade. He has asked the UK to prioritize vaccine deliveries to France.

Macrons U Turn

Very good....🤣

The Welsh leader's just had a conference on the news, blimey If I were in Wales I'd be slitting my wrists. "Hospitality (may) be open by late spring bank holiday (if the figures are good enough). That bank holiday is May 31. May bloody 31st. Two full weeks after England opens up.

Yet the place is on exactly the same land as England. What a complete berk, all the Welsh will do is flood into England for an indoor beer or a few nights away in a hotel. Hope he gets hammered at the coming elections.

Outdoor Hospitality can open from 26th of April, so it's really not so bad.

Given the fact that we have waited this long I'm not going to lose any sleep over having to wait 2 weeks longer than England.
Last year the boot was on the other foot and we got a lot of people crossing the border in to Wales as hospitality here was back open but wasn't in England.

I agree...same with the other uk nations, they all have to be 'slightly different' to England don't they. Heaven forbid they do something in line with the UK government, surely it can't be that hard to all get on Zoom and agree the same policy? Political bullsh*t....

The Welsh Minister has commented in countless press conferences that they'd received little or no contact from Boris Johnson throughout the pandemic, despite requests for this to happen.

I'm not saying that Wales would have necessarily fallen in line with England if there had been more communication but it certainly sounds like there have been plenty of times where the Welsh Government have had no option but to make their own plans.

I was the opposite,
Definitie headache and swollen glands in neck after first pfizer dose, nothing at all after the 2nd dose

Feels good getting both doses ticked off though doesn't it 💪🏽
It does. Booking a day off in March, sun and 22oc, and me lying in bed shivering was a bit annoying though

Johnson announced his current plans weeks ago, no excuse for Drakeford not to follow them, or even move faster.

I'd prefer tentative plans rather than plans put in place and then having to backtrack.
Its not like any of this is set in stone for any country.

This is not a political forum but I can’t let this pass. You clearly don’t appreciate how sidelined other nations have been whom have therefore made the best decisions as they see fit for their citizens (as has been demonstrated). ‘They all have to be ‘slightly different’ to England don’t they’ says it all (in fact on many occasions England have latterly followed). Why is it not the case that England policy is ‘slightly different’ to the other nations - particularly when the other nations have been generally ahead of the curve.

Everyone is in the same boat wherever in the globe - I reluctantly say ‘we are all in it together’....so come on let’s not start having cheap veiled shots.

As I said, this is not a political forum so no need for debate however, I feel we needed a bit of context on your statement.
