..... interesting opinions, because of my job I have the possibility to get vaccinated with AZ next week, which is very fast for Austria in my age group. But +/- 30% effectiveness is honestly an argument for me to wait until Pfizer is available everywhere on a large scale.... Doesn't that matter to you?

I find it incomprehensible that pfizer's patent protection was not lifted long ago, and that the best vaccine in the world is produced by all companies with a licence.

Where you seeing the +/- 30% effectiveness?

Recent real world data shows that even a single dose is really effective against hospitalization and death

(BBC news cause I'm lazy today😬)

Was locked out of the forum for a while but hopefully everyone is feeling moist and the news and prospect of things opening up this summer 💪🏽

I think the main issue are limited production facilities worldwide.

Since people seem to be avoiding the AZ vaccine here in Germany, there is finally talk among politicians about making this vaccine available to everyone and not just to the designated priority tiers. Which means good news for my summer travel :)

Agree, they should use them or sell them on or give them to poorer countries. Sitting on them and not using them is as even bigger scandal.

This from the Health Editor of The Economist today:

As I understand it the Pfizer one requires manafucturing and storage conditions that would mean it would never be suitable for the mass distribution we need. Plus it’s way more expensive

Germany and France look like they’ve absolutely f**led it with their early messaging about AstraZeneca

My husband (42) is a teacher and received his vaccine yesterday, although none of his colleagues have, even the ones in their 50s.

He thinks it's because he phoned our GP surgery last Thursday and asked if there was a cancellation list as a friend (not a teacher) got on one as he said he could get to the vaccine centre at very short notice. Then my husband received the text confirming his booking the very next day.

A neighbour said there is huge availability here (in Brighton & Hove), so I'm going to see if I can get on, given that I live with a key worker. Obviously, I'd rather slots went to people who needed it, but it sounds as though there are lots of empty slots going spare and I can go at any time, at short notice.

The distribution list seems to have got quite random in the UK, know loads of people suddenly popping up with the vaccine cards on social media who aernt anywhere near a priority group

People here are just phoning the booking line and saying they are a carer and getting booked in no problem.
They 'might' get turned away by the vaccinator on the day with paper work but depends on the vaccinator.
Lots of people here have 'skipped the que'

I’ve heard the Brighton centre is pretty much empty very early - because the old people can’t get into town. So some stories of people being able to if they say / ask for something first thing in the morning

I had the Astra Zeneca vaccine yesterday and well before my age group. My NHS Gp surgery administered, and was very well organised and efficient. I had very mild flu like symptoms overnight, and which the doctor said may happen.

I feel relieved.

Yesterday I also booked Ibiza for September 2021, rock and roll.

I was going to ask something similar, do you get a physical certificate to prove you are vaccinated?

I am slightly worried that because I don't use a smart phone (old skool), I won't be able to have the NHS app they are talking about that says you are vaccinated. I am thinking how they will get around this...I can't be the only one who does not own a smart phone....but on the other hand I'm not really feeling having to carry around a bit of paper that you could easily lose or damage!

No certificate in the UK. You get your little card with your next appointment on it, but they are easily faked, so unlikely to be accepted as any sort of proof. IF the vaccine passports become a thing, it will be separate and not the little card. Would be a app option or an old skool paper version as well from what I have read from the UK end of things. Off to find where I read that.....

Edit: Can't find the original source, so please take above with a pinch of salt, as there is a likelihood that I imagined it. The Beeb are reporting that the NHS app might be reconfigured to include it: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/explainers-55718553, but there definitely, absolutely, 100% will be an offline way of having it if it becomes a thing, and it is super unlikely to be needed to do anything much domestically.

Edit 2: Bollocks, I've found myself in this thread again

Its quite nice in here now 😁

Suns shining, off work for a week, Big Joan 82 today and no more Bad Boy movies to be forced to watch. Good times

Also do people think is there a realistic of Ibiza July 15th without quarantining on return?

How the hell do you film every second of the gig/club/festival you're at?
