Just checked up on where we are locally today as far as 7-day rolling case rates are concerned. and that's as low as the stats can go, the virus is pretty much stamped out locally. It's a long time till 8th March for an area with numbers like this to be locked down, hope they focus their resources somewhere relevant and leave us alone to self-regulate.:

We’re in this together.

Good luck with that 😁

ibiza update

- we seem to be past the peak of the 3rd wave now (see graph)
- the british variant seems to be the main reason for the explosion of cases in january (too lazy to search for links, but by now you should know I wouldn't say that if I didn't have reliable sources which back up my statements). but mix this variant with xmas reunions and this is what you get..
- our public hospital is full. yesterday afternoon they even flew a few patients over to mallorca because the ICU was simply overwhelmed here.

so...while we seem past the peak, the hospital will certainly still have a few rough weeks ahead.

I still think that...

- by easter we will be in a much better situation
- by june we will have tourism
- and I‘m still positive we will see nightlife making a return this summer at some point.

Have vaccinations started in Ibiza yet? Any decent progress?

Also, hearing any rumblings about clubs working on a testing strategy? Hopefully we don’t even need that by then, but was just on the beach in Miami in front of the SLS Hotel. They had a service where people were getting tested right there on the beach.

vaccination has started, it's slow though. less than 2% of pop got their first shot, only 0.4% have had their second so far.

I'm sure a few of the clubs will do rapid tests if that's what gets them to reopen. but the local govt hasn't set any guidelines / conditions yet.

on balearic's vaccination plans

So, I wont be in Ibiza for a 40th on June 28th 😐 Ryanair have rescheduled and new dates no good. So....

- anyone have experience of getting a refund from Ryanair?

- when should I rebook for? I'm also booked for CO and a 50th July 15th (presuming CO wont happen but if Ibiza reopens then will still go), not bothered about clubs this trip, doesn't have to be super hot, dont want multiple cancellations like last year if avoidable

Any thoughts?

I got a refund last year from them, got it maybe 2 months later which was quicker than what they said it was going to be

sorry to hear. you deserve an ibiza trip soon! at least you've got july on the cards still and I'm sure that one will happen

I need one!!

Any thoughts on September for rebooking 40th?
Yep, mid to end recommended. Warm enough for beach during the day, not too cool at night, shorts all day. Generally a bit cheaper and less rammo on the beaches/restaurants, but the clubs are still nicely full

I booked with Ryan air to fly to Gran Canaria next month, flight got cancelled end of December. Received the refund within 2 weeks. I was pleasantly surprised.

I tried to get a refund in March and even requesting it was a nightmare, this was straight forward (as it should be!)

That sounds promising

I had lots of problems last year with Norwegian and Tui, I was anticipating this was going to be a ball ache. Thankfully not.
