Still unsure re Tenerife. Could get out there and have a temperature test and get confined to room.....
My aunt lives there and it is extremely quite but they are expecting a good Really missing the off season tourists , groups out training, running, cycling ect.

I walked through our village last night... it was quite apparent a large number have f***ed everything off! I saw at least 3 house parties going on!
I also learned this morning my 65yr old mother was at 1 until 4.30 this morning! Kind of blew my mind but I think it’s fair to say folk are feeling the need for a social release rightly or wrongly!

Yeah around here people are carrying on as no restrictions. Probs why had a very high rate. Now it's just high ?

I just hope it doesn't lead to even more hospitalizations. Think it's one reason the gov are really keen on getting vaccine rollout this side of xmas, people are getting fatigue of it all.

Additionally I'm not 100% sure they'll get the tier bill passed on Wednesday. Labour want more money to support peeps and boris might not fancy that and rather go with his Tory mps defeating the bill.

Either way, those who are cautious will remain so and those who ain't won't. It's just where those 2 groups share the same spaces you risk it spreading to the vulnerable etc. ?‍♂️

On plus side, almost time to put the tree up ??

Agree that people just aren't caring about lockdown here in Hull :( I think not having a 1st wave means more think there isnt an issue than most places.

Weather doesn't help either: its dreary today dark, damp and cold, and that means little to do as walks are off except for the most hard core walkers. So people are thinking 'ill go browse the shops' Not shutting the non-essential aisles and stores was a mistake in my opinion. Places like The Range have no reason to be open right now.

Unless it affects people directly, it's easy to get complacent. ?‍♂️

I wonder if covid is increasing heart and stroke problems. 2 relatives and 3 friends of friends have all died in last 3 weeks from such things ?. They weren't young, but still unexpected.

I’m not seeing the level of none compliance that some of you are. Supermarkets are heaving and there are people queuing in town for fast food and coffee, but apart from that it’s dead everywhere in York and North Yorkshire. That includes public transport and places of work.

Surveys suggest the vast majority agree with the restrictions while the majority don’t agree with the relaxation of restrictions over Christmas. As is the case with almost everything, there is a vocal minority. I can’t prove this and it maybe very localised, but I sense there is an increasing number of folk that recognise the government’s growing authoritarianism, and frustration with the methodology employed to determine tiers.

The commons vote could be interesting, I expect Labour to vote against just because it can, unless they get the ££££ they want. If the government lose the vote it will be interesting to see what they do. The UK could end up with the people having to manage the situation itself for a period of time. The mind boggles! More likely we will see an amendment.

York has far more tourists than Hull and that could be a reason? Hotels are closed, no coach trips etc so that alone cuts down the numbers.

It would be a car crash if the Government lost the vote, the public would see that as they've lost control and more would start not complying. I still think their big majority will see them home though. It would have been interesting if this crisis had hit in either Theresa May's wafer thin majority or the coalition Governement times!

Yeah, but it’s the same every where in the county. Same in Leeds too.

I was thinking exactly the same as you regarding the commons vote. I still think the whips will make sure they win. The alternative isn’t worth thinking about! The government were guilty of bypassing the commons in phase one and were reprimanded for it. They must be frantic as hell right now!

Labour actually wanted stricter lockdowns though so I’d be surprised if they voted against it
Yeah. We would probably still be in the first lockdown with a socialist government! The issue they have is they want to see more investment. In reality, if they vote against it will be a political move as they smell blood.

We’ve all just had a heated discussion staring at the Netflix menu. I think we all have cabin fever; I’ve come to bed, daughters gone listening to Kate Bush on vinyl in her room and the missus is watching “one of her dramas” on tv.

For this one I think the MP's should put to one side the party politics and simply consider that the public are confused enough already and don't need further rule changes right now. I wouldnt even fiddle with the Tiers again before Xmas.

Can discuss again the future 2nd week of January when people are back in their work routines.

Here in Greater Manchester the rates/100,000 keep on falling. Trafford is nearly below 100 and even the worst performers keep on seeing the rates fall.

If we're doing so well (a) why end the lockdown until the numbers are single figures BUT(b) why are we in tier 3 when other areas with similar figures are in tier 2?
And these are figures from 25th, so by the middle of next week the average as a whole should be around 150.

I live a 5 minute drive from the Greater Manchester border. We’re in T2, work that one out.

Just think if the hole country had had Starmer's lockdown over half-term, including schools; the figures for Gtr M show that - even with the schools open - lockdown works well and quickly, so my preferred future until the vaccine would be to drop the system we have now, go regional and have lockdown lite (Tier 1) and if numbers get above 150, have lockdown heavy for a fortnight* to get them back down again.
A fortnight should be 0001 Fri > 2359 Monday so that's 18 full days.

Day 26

They cant find anything untoward so assuming its Covid related. Finishing my 2 week rest and then go on for a full MOT (which given my lifestyle choices over the last 30 years is probably a good thing)

Never really felt anxious before this, it's really not pleasant. Feel for anyone who struggles with it long term

Roll on June 28th ☀️????

I had similar concerns during my couple of trips to Mallorca earlier this year. In the end, I went and just measured my temperature immediately before departure to reduce the risk of getting stuck in quarantine on arrival.
