I popped for a few pints last night. Only a few mind, had the school run this morning (something I won’t have to worry about next week)

Met two mates, as I’ve been away grafting since February and with the probably inevitable UK lockdown that is coming we needed one last pint together.

Also we are supposed to be planning a stag doo. Obvs I was pushing hard for Ibiza, but the majority wanted Las Vegas. It’s all purely academic now anyway. Not a chance of any of it happening, not even the wedding by the look of things (no biggy, I’m pencilled in as best man and it’s a commitment I can do without if I’m honest)

Felt like a naughty 16 year old sneaking into a boozer, or like some prohibition era secret drinking den. People looking furtively over their shoulders etc. Bar staff sort of looking at you through squinted judgemental eyes.

We were talking about how people these days are really into gyms and fitness, and a lockdown will be torture for them. Came to the conclusion that I’m going to build a gym in my garage using paint tins etc so I can ride out the lock down without going insane and strangling my kids and missus.

The late 80s early 90s saw people gathering at illegal raves in warehouses etc, I reckon we’ll see people having illegal CrossFit/spinning gatherings in similar disused places.

I think I’ll go out running in the dead of night, dressed all in black. Will be like some real life version of that film Escape From New York or The Running Man.

I’m possibly going to be laid off work for around 3 months. Might get round to reading some books and doing all those little housejobs my missus keeps hassling me about. Might even finally learn Spanish so if I do ever make it out to the White Isle again I can actually chat to people when they mistakingly approach me assuming im a Spaniard due to my dark skin.

Interesting times we live in.

To think literally a few weeks ago people were heavily debating on this forum about the lack of female DJs etc on certain line ups, or set times not being long enough or whatever.

Reality has booted us firmly in the nuts, hard.

This has genuinely been giving me anxiety:lol:. I panic bought some weights today that will just about keep me going hopefully even if they aren't as good as a gym.

I'm hoping by June/July it's getting under control and things can slowly open so by August it's almost back to normal. That could mean it's empty or that people all book their holidays in a shorter time and all appreciate it more ?

Word of wisdom from Southern triple J.. breeds some of the best pit bulls in America.. old style and not the big hip hop meat head ones...

I think they all waited too long with the shutdown. even switzerland, they had well over 1000 cases which is a lot for such a small country and such a contagious virus
Totally agree, and even more with undisciplined people like us!

yes, really weird vibe here - the masks, gloves, screens, floor markings to keep your distance and this incredibly paranoid air (and that's just my corner shop)

all reminds me a little bit of those Armageddon videos from the early 80s when people genuinely feared Reagan and Brezhnev were about to nuke each other out of existence

this is the new normal though. get used to it

Italy only had lockdowns in certain areas to begin with, not the whole country....people from those areas simply left and went to other areas, like in the south. Spread like wildfire. I work with an Italian and he has been showing me videos of people meeting in parks and out and about even now....

being stuck indoors is really boring but there's ways & means of coping (*before you hit the wine in the evening) - working out to cheesy exercise videos is a laugh as is doing all that stuff you never do. I've been writing and improving my Spanish. I ordered an art kit. Will see what emerges out of it. Determined not to just vegetate watching crap on the flix. Also if you want to support struggling music producers, bandcamp are waiving their cut today so that all payments are going direct to musicians.
