The no need comment wasn’t aimed at you btw, was whoever told you ?

Indeed. I can’t believe the CSA came on TV today and said, this isn’t a prediction, but look what could happen. Seriously?‍♂️
Tbf you have to use pretty simple and blunt language with most of the general public. Subtly is too complex for many.

Also if they say no households mixing at houses but limited number in pubs/restaurants then it's a bit of a sneaky eat out to help out situation, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Wow, ch4 news just done a bit on lighthouse labs. Not only they have contracts for £100+ million, but are only turning around 14% of tests in 24hrs.

Shocker [not] as they have 4GS running some of the labs?‍♂️

NHS labs doing waaaay better.

If more studies show asymptomatic virus shedding isn't as bad as thought, is a good thing. However as current studies show anything from 10-80% are asymptomatic and 30-60% are shedding same amount of virus, think more research is needed to firm it up (as science does)

Think tmrw boris is going to tell us how he plans to organise a piss up in a brewy, and get covid done?

So in that context, how the heck is Hancock & Co keeping a second lockdown on a table 6 months later? We know test & trace is an utter failure, but how about NHS ICU capacity that was supposed to built out?

Well, as you say, Test & Trace is an utter failure, nobody can get a blooming test that means anything now either, and on top of that they have the capacity ... but guess what ... no staff (partly because Brexit has deterred EU citizens from coming over to man the capacity). I give up. ?‍♂️

Whatever the Government announces the mood of the public has changed and that will make enforcing rules harder.

The first lockdown felt like a novelty, a chance to work from home (for many for the first time) some enjoyed a few weeks of furlough sat out in the heat, people tried stuff they havent done for a while like Baking & Cycling. Even the daily reports of 'this gig/sports event/festival has been cancelled' was entertaining in a way.

Fast forward to now and people are tired, the weather is already hit and miss, some are struggling financially and you've then got the biggest social mixing event of the year in Christmas on the horizon.

People are now openly questioning how deadly the virus is and whether its the Government just wanting to control us, and its easy to see the Police dont have the power or resource to keep everyone controlled anyway...im not sure what will make the public take it seriously again.

Cops just came into the bar I'm in just strolled around. We were sitting with the owner but I've never been down late when they do the rounds. No problems everybody was seated,no one a the bar and a few space cadets wearing masks..? even on Saturday night when it was full as in all tables and a queue outside at 7pm doors closed cops came in and just walked around..

Boris live to the nation at 8pm, expected to be all bars and hospitality shut at 10pm from Thursday and table service only.

Not convinced how effective that will be, an early finish may put a few off but hardcore regulars will still go anyway.

Email from (autistic) eldest boy's new school 8:30pm Sunday night to say no school next day due to a CoVID case. Turns out it was his teacher and his class is now closed for 2 weeks. We spent a fortune forcing the Local Authority to move him to a decent additional needs school in Euston, as he was falling so far behind in a mainstream setting. Now he's had virtually no education since March and let's face it, if they close everytime there's a case, he's going to spend more time out than in.

I'm moving into the protect the vulnerable, let everyone else crack on, camp.

Similar thing here mate, my niece first day of nursery then off for 2 weeks as teacher and classroom assistant positive.

I'm really worried for my daughters and my older boy (gcse) education

Bizarrely, my youngest's school has had 2 cases, and remains entirely open

I'm confused by the this latest "table service only" stipulation. I was under the impression that was already the case, no?

All bars here were strict table service only.

Apart from the bars that you went in via the back door ?

For bars that had a table service app it was great. But if not it was just a hassle trying to order drinks.

it was absolutely dead in the bars we were in Saturday until the last one we were in from about 7pm. I would say it will defs have an effect on numbers attending

If they introduce a similar thing here in Wales it will just mean that people will get on the sesh earlier and power drink to make up for losing the extra few hours in the night. It's a completely counter productive measure.
