yes. no way this is lasting 2 weeks.... I think everyone is basically monitoring those graphs to see if/when the number of new cases stabilises

Was reading that illegal Spanish pop-up bars are opening up a bit like modern-day Prohibition-era speakeasys! (similar to the lock-in someone referred to a few pages back). Ordinarily I'd be the first in the queue. However, er...

Written this summer off now. No chance of Ibiza in June, and September's looking unlikely. Might get something in autumn - Gibraltar or around Torremolinos but will only book last-minute if they are available. That's not doing the industry any good, but even with insurance I'm losing out already AND the cost of insurance will soar next year (losing the EHIC won't help either).

What a way to spend the first full year of retirement when I can get around at will - but at least I will have that option in winter whereas everyone else will be back at work.

While in some countries people worry about Noodles or loo paper ...:spank:

I am devastated if no Ibiza this year as I am sure everyone will be. It is my 40 this year and all me and my friends were going to go in October for that.

Everyone looks forward to there holidays that they take every year...so many people will be depressed about money, holidays and paying their bills and stressed about loved ones getting the virus.

This is devastating for us all!

Say hello to Punk Sanitiser ?

To help with the shortages, we have just started working on making hand sanitiser at our distillery in Scotland. We are determined to do everything we can to try and help as many people as possible stay safe.

It's time to keep it clean.

Good shout & are giving them away ?372DC190-CA4E-43B8-B3E8-55FC90964A87.jpeg

What kind of a mixer needed Cole or Fanta?

I'm starting to wonder what a post Coronavirus world is going to be like.

I'll put my hand up right now and say this, when I first heard about this chinese wuhan flu nonsense, thats exactly what I thought it was. Another story to fill the news and take us away from the ongoing Brexit saga or whatever else.

Bravo mother nature (or sneaky biological weapons designers) you are about to stop the world dead in its tracks. You've just about got us on our knees. Good effort, well played.

I remember watching the planes fly into the twin towers as a teenage lad, not fully understanding or anticipating how it would change the world and indeed my life.

I'm starting to think this is another world changing scenario, and what changes will follow it.

As the world emerges from this, whenever that will be, I'm wondering if life will be the same again for us?

What will be done differently? Will we see a huge social change?

  • I'm already seeing people working from home. Will companies continue this, as it will now be a proven method. I mean who will want to sit in rush hour traffic or freeze their ass off on a train platform, when people have shown in preceding months that working from home is perfectly doable. Not to mention the reduction in carbon emissions and less congestion on the roads etc
  • Conversely, with businesses cutting back non essential personnel but still managing to function, will job losses be inevitable?
  • Border control. Will it get a hell of a lot stricter? Will free movement be a thing of the past. An end to mass immigration?
  • Biometric ID. Will this increase as more control of movement is demanded
  • Will businesses stop seeing China as the worlds only manufacturer and start moving back to the countries they abandoned. (fat chance)
  • Will we become a nation of clean freaks and dooms day hoarders on the back of this.
  • Will it become a lot harder for employers to abuse cheap foreign labour.
  • Will people wake up and see the main stream media for what it is. They are certainly doing a good job of spreading panic and fear.
  • Will this all somehow be linked to climate change.
  • Will banks etc be less draconian with people that are struggling to make mortgage payments etc.

And, what about Ibiza? Or holidays in general? How will Ibiza cope with, lets say a full season, on lockdown? How will it emerge from that scenario? Maybe some posters on here will have a good idea on the effects of that? Can Ibiza survive a season off?

Will this decimate the cheap airlines, forcing the price of a budget holiday beyond the realms of most people? How will hotels cope, or places that rely purely on tourism?

Sorry, I'm getting well ahead of myself here. probably should have just started a fresh thread. Just wondering what the state of play will be when we get to the end of this tunnel. If the evidence is to be believed, then it hasn't even fully began here in the UK yet.

This could be the monumental kick up the arse that the world badly needs.
