So many traveller's I spoke to canceling due to this and wanting a refund. Company's take is based on cancellation policy of booking and up to owner if wants to refund or not. Some owners will refund partially in full or not at all. Some traveller's understand it some are pissed

No ones fault just one of those things... Everyone looses

When everyone's allowed out... Everyone will be out drinking and partying... I hope that people don't get reinfected or infected again?

This is the problem with the Lockdown strategy.

The Netherlands have chosen the Herd Immunity strategy. The goal is to get 60% of the population infected while protecting the risk groups.
No total Lockdown...people are allowed to be on the streets and perhaps visit friends.
However, bars, clubs, restaurants, schools are all closed. Events have been cancelled. So while I can go out for a walk in the park, I cannot grab lunch anywhere or get a cup of coffee. I can however, invite some people over...although it has been advised not to gather in large groups (like over 10 people). Really weird situation but im really happy that it is no total lockdown (yet).

And I think it's the best solution too. Im afraid the lockdown countries will get mass reinfections and will choose the Herd Immunity strategy after all too.

We just had an like a Hollywood movie president speach on the 9 o clock new ? will post it up as soon as I can....

Just read a few excerpts from it. Blimey. Emotional stuff. Plus expecting 15k more cases before the end of March. Have to say, Ireland have done well with initial financial rescue packages and sick pay guarantees etc long before the UK limped out belatedly today with theirs.

Yes that strategy sounds good although China had a complete lockdown and there Infection rate now is very slow and not so many.

Will be interesting in summer when it gets warmer to see if the virus does die in heat or not

He basically just said we are all in this together and to stay indoors.
Nothing new.
I think we wer all expecting him to say they were going tk enforce a lockdown.

Yes people I know that got laid off have been looked after straight away.. we're back at work tomorrow and for rest of the week but after that dunno. Our oldest girl and her boyfriend moved back home for awhile too... Great company for our 13yr old but not to good for mummy and daddy who might want to play Doctors and nurses...?

Update from @diver towers.

After a bit of a "mad not planned it like that weekend" its all hitting the fan here.

My missus runs a small company with her brother, plus another brother who drives the van, two other staff and sub contractors . They are running the business down slowly for the forceable, so we are going to be one salary down.

Daughter has had all her lectures cancelled, last few months of Uni for her.

I've been working from home today but i'm back in tomorrow.

What is disturbing me the most is the selfishness of panic buyers.

“A supermarket in Denmark got tired of people hoarding hand sanitizer, so came up with their own way of stopping it.

1 bottle kr40 (€5.50)
2 bottles kr1000 (€134.00) each bottle.

Hoarding stopped!”

“French PM warns France may feel obliged to bar UK citizens from entering France if UK doesn’t introduce more stringent measures to contain #coronavirus Quote”We will find it hard to accept on our territory British citizens who move freely in their own country +then come to France".

This is true of all countries surely? Different strategies in different territories on different timescales. Italy now threatening 12 years in prison for defiance of the lockdown. One country’s success could be blighted by another’s failure. Everywhere would need to lock down for one month at least so we’re all on the same level before trying to move on.

No country has been anywhere near being able to withstand uncontrolled outbreak.

If the Brexiteers can’t get on board with mitigation they will truly find themselves isolated on their own little island. France is smart to not let them seed new infections via travel.

Here, as the lock down starts at 12am,there was a massive panic buy queue at my local supermarket ?

My recruitment at the airport has been canceled, all this because a guy ate a bat at 15000km from here ?

:( ... but as far as the guy eating the bat is concerned I am not convinced. There is a lot being covered up on all sides >>

No way all this come's from our Western World. Kill it!

That “article” has been widely debunked. The part about the illness from vaping possibly being undiagnosed COVID-19 is particularly egregious.

Omg all the Lawler stuff today..?

C'mon link?

ok during all that melodrama about his cold, he was directing people to his wife's website where she has been promoting some immunity booster supplements and claiming these might help against CV. (no medical evidence provided) Anyway, someone pulled him up on this querying whether he was really qualified to comment and then he wrote a follow up post on his FB (the posts are probably still there) claiming that people were being nasty and bullying him! cue thousands of likes, messages of support and that was that... OR IT WAS UNTIL Steve (under the name "Stephen Flawless" (lol!!) fired off these astonishing private messages to one of the people in question (someone I know) who then shared the chat. I'm not going to share the screenshots in public but I read them and you'll have to take my word for it when I say Lawler comes across like a proper thug, using threatening language "I'll find you" and giving it the old "do you know how much I earn" etc etc (totally detached from reality).

No way all this come's from our Western World. Kill it!

Of course there's a tonne of speculation etc etc but the point is that the story being told is also not credible viz the market. It's absolutely possible it originated from poorly controlled lab(s) in the West.
