Week 5 of lockdown here in Melbourne, dreaming of escape...
Well done on the effort. Keep it up. What are the infection rates like now? Do you think the government is feeling political pressure to eradicate it to the same extent as New Zealand?

#heresprayingforoctober20? I was talking to the hotel and he said we are taking it day by day.... Can't be any fairer than that..?

I have just spoken to my friend on the island...

The new restrictions are there is to be a lockdown at night - so no going out after 6/7:00 pm and no private meetings of more than 5-people. Ludicrous.

May as well forget about the rest of 2020 let alone October... this is when coronaviruses (colds) pick up and start spreading so even with normal sniffles there will be panic about COVID. I have also heard a rumour that from 18 Sept there will be no more international flights or boats arriving at the port. This makes me super sad. Stupid virus.

1 - it will only only affect certain areas/neighborhoods, not the whole island
2 - the exact details won't be revealed until monday and will be different for every affected area

please facts only here johanna, no hearsay or gossip. those bits you mentioned are simply possible measures for now. also consider what McR just said please

These measures , if they come , look like the last exit for the gouverment. I think they will try to prevent it. They habe to announce it early , to bring the tourists out of the island.
Cannot believe such strict measures on the islands

It's for Ibiza Town and San An... so not the whole island (yet). This is what she has been told and it will be passed through the government on Monday. Everything I have been told by my friends who have lived on the island for years has (up until now) happened. It's a very sad situation. Re: ryanair refund... I am hoping for the same.

TBh, what's the difference between now and if these new measures are implemented? At least we would all know where we stand. Sounds like tourism is dead for the season anyway, and at least if flights are forced to be cancelled (as I've said) some of us can get a refund. Though being entitled to a refund from Ryanair is different from getting a refund from Ryanair.

Ok , the thing with San An and Ibiza town
The airport and ship port thing is more interesting. Is it possible ?

WRONG.

the balearic president mentioned ibz town and san an as possible areas where some of those mentioned measures might be put in place if contagion rate doesn't improve.

I'm sorry but the way you put it, it's just not correct. A. it's not a done thing yet and B. as McR said the details of the measures aren't defined yet and possibly not all of them come into place at the same time.

That sound realistic.

If the contagion rate is still much too high , they have different problems than tourism and partys. Then we speak about the same thing we saw in spring.
I think they start with low measures at defined spots. And then they change the intensity if necessary. Hope we dont habe to see this

The bandits still owe me money from a flight they cancelled in may.
Same. They are the only ones I asked for a refund from (in May), I took the vouchers from Easyjet and Iberia as there was more flexibility on where you can fly from. I sent them my first sh*tty e-mail this week chasing, I'm a patient man and thought I'd give them a chance. But to hear nothing for so long just takes the p*ss. It's like they are hoping you will forget about it...

correct. for starters, there's a meeting tomorrow with the majors of ibiza town and san antonio. then they'll decide if any of these measures are enforced here. so we'll have to wait and see...
