I imagine it won’t be long till shops have them available at the entrance in case you’ve forgotten to bring one. They will then charge you for it as you buy your goods, similar to the plastic bag surcharge.
I'm gobsmacked that doesn't happen, hey when you walk in you can grab a basket, even sanitise your hands...but no mask available for pennies. Hmm. Would have thought charity shops would be on a winner there, selling them to customers walking past.
But as alluded to above, glasses get steamed up, with breath that contains the very virus you are trying to prevent. If the droplets get on your specs, and into the open air then the masks don't work. Rethink??

Just looked at the USA's death figures, they are absolutely horrible, the last three weeks as bad as mid-May. There was a gradual decline in June but for the last three weeks a significant increase.
Also worried about the recent increase in Spanish new cases, but the death rates remain very low. Hopefully this recent surge does not equal significantly more fatalities.

Simple! No breathing inside shops. Problem solved FOREVER ?

Yup, U shaped and lag behind new cases. ?Wonder how accurate will be going forwards with changing who hospitals report to now (not CDC).

I'll take no notice of the "new cases" stats, but surely they can't cover up deaths? Or simply not attribute them to Covid?

Yup exactly. They will be reporting them with same method/rules as before, even if you think it is under or over reporting, it's the delta change which is significant.

Saw reports last week from USA hospitals saying they reaching capacity and in next few weeks its gonna get ugly as the exceed that. One doc was in tears saying he'd never thought as a doctor in USA he'd be deciding who does and doesn't get treatment due to lack of capacity. Sad times.

If you want protection from others a FFP3 mask with a face shield is all you really need. I would rather wear a face shield than a regular mask - regular face covering doesn't stop virus getting in anyway and a face shield is far more effective at deflecting output from people speaking to you or coughing etc.

Does a face shield count as a face covering in England ?

Yes I am worried now about the Spanish spike in cases... I will be staying in when I can!

I am worried about the rise of the cases in whole Europe and US ...
In german newspapers they wrote that a part of the cases are from people who came back from holiday. Hope we will not have closed borders at the end of summer

There is no magic here - you either exercise restraint or you get a growing number of cases. Since Germany is now close to normal (with the exception of no clubbing and no big events) and discipline in vacation spots is lacking, it was to be expected.

I think there is no reason to panic now - the numbers aren't that bad, and the whole point of the coronavirus "dance" is to figure out how far we can push things.

Number of cases doesn't worry me TOO much, on the grounds that as we are out and about more there should be more cases, and of course there will be more and more testing. As long as those case numbers remain relatively stable. If people really can survive better now, especially if the current drugs used on the most severe cases work, maybe people having Covid (and the vast majority not dying) at any given time isn't too bad?

But what worries me the most is arriving and being positive for Covid. If you test positive on arrival or in the early stages of your holiday, I don't think you can return home for 7 - 14 days (???) so not only - if asymptomatic - and extended hotel bill but also finding a flight home + the boredom of only beign in your hotel room/hotel. That's if you're lucky and don't need hospital treatment.

Today I noticed a nice 4-day break right at the beginning of September; flight and 4nts in the Los Molinos for under £600, normally i would book that straight away but I'm holding off until late Sept "just in case" which doesn't help the Ibizan tourist industry.

Maybe if the first three weeks of August show the virus is still contained I'll have another look - last minute.

If you are positive you will go to quarantine .
I think you can not fly back until doctor says
you are healed and not dangerous anymore.
Dont know if 2 weeks are enough. Surely not
in every case.
Dont know how they do it : Booked Hotel ? Possible ? Someone has to come in your room to bring you food . And maybe a doctor sometimes ?
Do they have a plan for quarantine cases in Ibiza or majorca ?

Better not to be Covid positive in a foreign country.
Thats not the oppurtunity to hear something positive about me

I assume a solo traveller will be allowed out of their room to buy food and essentials? Example, your hotel could be a hostal that simply only provided breakfast. If you are a carrier and wear a mask in the shop, keep distanced and quick etc then there shouldn't be an issue?

I dont think they let infected tourists run around. Much to dangerous. Quarantine is quarantine.
Dont really know what they are doing.

I suppose if it's a big hotel there are ways of sneaking in and out, especially with a mask on and floppy hat. Hotels don't have guards *but don't tell them*. In fact. the hotel I am using in Formentera has annexes which I'm usually in, where there is zero guarding, just let yourself in with the key. And most are on the ground floor, just climb over the balcony wall!!
So not sure how they can chesck you are isolating unless someone calls round.

If they catch you, the punishment will be quite stiff. I wouldn't do it if I were you.

You are not the only one "smart" enough to try breaching the quarantine, I am pretty sure the authorities are quite experienced at enforcing isolation by now.

If you are so afraid of being quarantined on arrival, do a test a day before departure and don't depart if it turns positive. But with the daily number of new cases in the UK being below 1000, the risk of getting infected in the week leading to the departure is less than 1/10000.

"I'm an English lawyer, blablabla"...

... oh shut up, yah wee fanny!
Not a wee Fanny but a big prick... Traveling Gringo Villa party people I would definitely think twice before you think you are going to be the next Tony Pike with your 4 day holiday... They will be onto you in no time...
