Aha i'm going by the fact I havent seen anyone say anything other than they cant wait to get back to it, dont blame you mate a hike around bonny lock lomand sounds heaven right now

I do have my late Sept flight to Ibiza booked, so if it's still going, I'll probably take it. If they're allowed to take off from Prestwick and land in Ibiza, I can't see Ryanair giving any sort of refund.

Yeah we in same boat pal, just going to see how it pans out.. our white isle trip also Ryanair and more likely to get a voluntary prostate exam off Freddy Kruger than a refund your right

all autonomías are making their suggestions now. but I believe it'll be the central government calling the shots for a while still. while they said the deescalation will be asymmetrical, it should still be unified and have common denominators as to what opens how much later than when confinement is over etc. but yeah, various regions cannot wait to open things up again ASAP. andalucía is right wing governed now so no surprise

I have also heard many people say they can't wait to book their hols again after canceling but most are going to rebook it for 2021 abroad

I was planning on going UK for a week this year... I wont now I don't think...

And ibiza July looks like it's off the table?
Just done something I never thought I'd do - have a look at the cost of a static caravan for a month in September....just outside Fleetwood (near Blackpool). ye Gods I kid you not...that effing desperate if we can't fly away or even travel far within the UK.

2-bed, lounge, kitchen, shower, wifi, indoor pool on site, bar, kids (hopefully) back at school out of the way....£1100 for a month (could negotiate less for long-term).
And in September we still might get some decent weather up there in Lankyland.
Party on the first Friday, anyone?? Bring your own bucket and spade, feather boa optional.

Well I'm not taking Ryanair's offer of a voucher instead, sooner try to get the money off chargeback. STILL hoping to fly in late September though.

is anyone actually saving money? you would think so but I'm not sure we really are. supermarkets and utilities are profiteering across the board.
I am. First month of the lockdown and my bank balance is gonna end over £600 better off, quite surprising as I have been spending a reasonable amount on alcohol plus a bit on weights etc.
I guess my savings are coming from no tube travel etc which is probably around 150 a month, no pubs which is probably 250-300 but that's offset by the beer i'm buying for home but i'm not sure where the rest comes from ?

my understanding is that kids can exercise outdoors this week and all adults next week. (in theory) - Sanchez seemed a bit nervous in that press conference (only human!)

I think that will be some very welcome news after a pretty harsh lockdown.

Just saw that on the news as well. Yes I noticed he looked a bit sheepish too. His govt made a bit of a mess of it in the early days, I imagine he will be very very cautious on any future decisions.

That Spanish health minister saying he wouldn't stop his own son going out, the international womens day rallies that went ahead etc Almost as if they were totally blind or ignorant to what was happening not too far away in Northern Italy.

There's a lot riding on it considering the GDP of Spain in relation to the tourism industry.

Hope they've got their act together, a lot hanging in the balance for the Spanish economy. I mean its just a holiday for us and a minor inconvenience to miss in light of the the death toll worldwide, but its a big part of the Spanish economy.

Be keen to see if the EU does anything to help out.

Disclaimer: not having a smug pop, UK govt have been equally as poor in this. The epicentre crown could be passed from Spain to the UK in the coming days ?

The bottom one is lost on me. What have I missed?

Not much mukka, in fact I somewhat envy you for having no exposure to this.

My phone has been exploding with a constant stream of dark humored material, much is the British way with a strong love of black humour (no pun intended)

Brief synopsis: Darwinism in action. Involves someone doing something stupid, with these guys waiting in the background for when the consequences (fatal) catch up with them.

Example:

Ghanaian tradition of living like a pauper then having a lavish funeral. I believe the pallbearers intend to cheer everyone up and lighten the mood.

Crazy flipside, the guys in the video have became famous in their home country and are being used to convey a stay at home message.

I think it's a pretty cool way to make your last journey, I might inquire about writing it into my will.

Quite surprised to see this happening in Germany. In my early 20's I lived there for over a year, and I found the German people to be admirably very pragmatic.

Interesting times.

This is the conundrum. You simply can't lock people away for weeks, months on end. The authorities have to look like they are at least trying to unlock us - whether it be different ideas about how to open up safely, which places can/can't etc etc. And start to put it into practice.
Here in the UK we are getting nowt. Just "be good girls and boys and stay indoors while the grown-ups deal with this". Frankly from this end it looks like they are simply gonna do nothing and hold us inside for months on end because they're not prepared, and they are doing nothing towards that preparation.
No committees (we have a health committee (SAGE) and we had a Brexit committee; but no exit committee. Funny how we can exit the EU but not our own houses?
So eventually patience will wear thin and frustration turns to action.
Personally I think more shops could now be opening with safe-distancing, and certainly pubs with outdoor areas. not town centre ones, those on the edges and country that have plenty of room. I'd feel safer in a pub with everyone 2m away than I would on a pavement, and more relaxed that I'm not passing the virus on.

My bank balance is also looking healthier this month end. Mainly due to not popping to the shops on my way home or on a weekend, ive been good at sticking to the one shop a week thing and actually prepping and making a list before I go.

And yeh not tapping my card like a mad thing in bars every weekend helps!

The USD swap lines from Federal Bank of USA might prove how clever and strong Trump and USA are down the line. Countries without swap lines who lack / borrow USD will not be laughing at all. My quick prediction.

I think this is a very good point and will probably be overlooked by many on here.

His medical knowledge is indeed very questionable, but his actions in the last few days highlight how aware he is of the bigger picture. He's obviously looking 18-24 months down the line.

People will laugh at him, but when the US takes a falls it is felt all around the world.

Agree mate, you can only push peoples goodwill so far.

I think if Boris comes back this week he will need to start pushing out some draw down proposals on the lock down.

People are getting restless. Says a lot if the Germans are kicking off.

Think we all should remember while some of us are saving money and doing alright out of this. Many others are going through some real hard times now and not actually getting paid and wondering where the next meal is gonna come from.
Lots of friends have been organising help for food banks ect which is a good thing although worrying that there is a shortage at these places. If you can spare a tenner if you haven’t already or donate any food make sure you find somewhere locally that would be so grateful for your help.;)

Important point, and well made.

I won't cry too hard about losing my summer holiday. I'm actually going to probably need the money saved, from not going abroad ,to see me though the next year or so.

Holiday was just a luxury, that is very low on any current priorities.

However, the unfortunate downside to that is my holiday dollar won't reach the industry in Ibiza, and as such will hurt them too. Tough situation all round.

What a fcuking year 2020 is turning out to be.

Someone invent a time machine so I can fast forward through all this bollocks please

Delorean ? ?

88mph ?⚡

also...imagine if the cure was pretty much in front of our eyes

I could get behind that! Would be great if it was a simple fix like this.

Also saw this article linked on from the above. Some interesting comments left on it. Doesn't appear to be any Ibicencos (spelling?) on this forum? Its interesting to hear their point of view.
