is anyone actually saving money? you would think so but I'm not sure we really are. supermarkets and utilities are profiteering across the board.

Looks like covid is extremely susceptible to high temps and UV light. Summer might kill this thing.

hmm. fingers crossed, but hasn't this already reached the tropics too? article doesn't explore that. I read that Peru is going through a torrid time

Probably, considering there are no pubs, gigs, or meals out. No travel costs for work, though I am using more electricity at home during the week. Home boozing bill has gone up a bit, no doubt.

Also no holidays, no holiday clothes.

I'm noticing the inflation though. small entrecotes at supermarket now costing 11€, toilet paper 8€, a fcking kitkat €1.50 (this is DIA not Waitrose)

given the price of petrol has collapsed it is shameless (unless of course there is an genuine shortage of food/farm labour?)

as for Trump, we were speculating yesterday about his mental health eg whether he might be on drugs for extreme ADD - I think it goes way beyond narcissism. I think his team probably know this but have priced it in, calculating that as Biden no spring chicken either people will stick with the devil they know in the looming crisis. (whilst blaming everything on the Chinese). the strategy might just work in the key states.

Trump will win against Biden as the latter doesn't seem to even remember what he is saying mid way through conversations. If he put Bernie as a the VP on his ticket, he might have a chance.

Plot twist, the Democrats don't want to actually win, seeing the state the country is in after all this. Leave it to be trumps legacy ?‍♂️

On the UV front. Viruses are susceptible to been destroyed by it, however I'm sure i read a science article recently that it is not quite as susceptible as seasonal flu.

Edit: found some info

Scroll down and will see table of how much uv is needed to deactivate 90% of virus. Seems to be a range for different coronaviruses (although UV does seem effective at killing it and thus reduce spread. Guess keep an eye on Australia as they head into winter)

8 euro toilet paper at Dia, crazy! I can get my toilet paper for 3 or 4 euro from dia

I am spending loads on food for some reason so I am spending money but I am still not saving surprisingly

Blimey yes...after the normal power/water/broadband/council tax bills are taken out I have normally a weekly budget of £300 for everything, food, fun. travel, repairs etc etc which gets used up....over the last 5 weeks I've probably spent £200 leaving £1300 left over.
Dunno how much I will get back from the rest of the year's cancelled trips which have already been paid for; but if this lockdown goes on 6 months then I'll have £5000 extra to spend next year on, now, let me think....

Besides not spending money on a holiday I'm probably spending more. Only saving £20 pm in petrol and at home using more energy nd food etc. Also buying lots more crap off amazon (battery charger, another £60 on disc weights etc??‍♂️)

I've not bought any "luxury" items as such - not even spray deoderant as there's no-one here to smell my pong aroma, although I do need a decent webcam to replace the generic one that came with the PC.
My worry is with the relief of even a partial lockdown opening, if they open somewhere like Decathlon I might go completely crazy and buy half the shop!!!
Or even worse, Mathers of Lancashire (a local camera/camcorder shop)...
