if that theory keeps getting pressed or even proven it could well wage a war, hopefully we don't see tensions start to bubble and the focus remains on the issue at hand

very shit times indeed

I think at the moment world leaders are busy dealing with more pressing matters, and rightly so.

But as we emerge from this crisis, and the economic effect really starts to bite, then I think more answers will be demanded of how this all happened. I think China will receive a lot a of criticism, rightly or wrongly.

I can't imagine a war taking place over it, I think that is highly unlikely.

China has a grand ambition to become the world leading economic superpower, you only have to check how many fingers they have in pies across Africa and the Middle East. Waging war on a nuclear scale would totally ruin any chance of them achieving this. Notice how they have kept North Korea in check over the years.

Additionally, Trump is no fighting man and has no real offensive fighting spirit. It's alien to him. His experience and motivations are purely around business and the dollar. One of his tenets of election was bringing troops home, and he has done this.

An interesting situation hidden behind all this Covid 19 malarkey is the current oil price plummet. As China went into lockdown earlier in the year, their daily oil consumption reduced by approx 900,000 barrels per day. Russia and OPEC couldn't agree how to cover this reduce in demand, which inevitably led to the Saudis (basically OPEC - KSA runs the show) flooding the market with oil, forcing the price down low.

Total result for China as their economy comes back online. Laughing all the way to the bank, as they say. Although as the rest of the world is still in lockdown it begs the question, who will they export goods to?

I mean no malice in this, but I think people will soon forget the body count as they realise the realities of the economic fallout from this and how deeply it is going to effect us all.

Shit times indeed.

Apologies for a depressing as fcuk post. Just what you need on a lockdown monday.

What does the article say?
Scientists still believe it came from the wet markets but some ministers or the people around them think it could be from a lab?

Is this like Trump and people around him who believe global warming does not exist/God over science etc

Click the link and read it. There were experiments in 2015 tinkering with coronavirus DNA to test whether direct bat-to-human transmission was feasible in the USA. I linked the article in Science magazine earlier. SARS was man-made. The outbreak happened 10 miles away from one of China's most advanced virus testing labs in Wuhan. This whole thing will be locked down as tightly as Roswell to contain all but circumstantial aspects no doubt but I have very little doubt what has happened here personally.

French governement told 1-2days ago that for the population, its safe now to wear regular mask (not the one for healthcare people ) while sayin oposite at the beginning Do not Wear regular mask ,useless?,cant sEe when everything will be over with those bunch of clowns ?

I didnt wait them to wear the regular one
IMG_20200406_150819.jpg
My bro often wear them in Paris as he choose to pick japan habits following his several trips there
Told me last time he went to supermarket ,people getting far from him as little scared of his mask and asian face, that make us smile as he got all distance safe to pick food from shelves, because of this fear ?

Tbh when Trump talk about Chinese virus instead of Covid 9 virus that doesnt offend me .
I dont trust chinese governement too but dont make shortcut please,Einstein

Kimajy I read the link but missed your earlier, so I will follow up on that thank you.

I also previously read the world's scientists have been tracking the evolution of the virus, they suggest it was from animal to human https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.th...8/is-factory-farming-to-blame-for-coronavirus

Could the location be a coincidence? The poisoning of the Skripals in Salisbury was x miles from Porton Down, it was suggested at the time it could might not have been the Russians but from that from the lab. I see how it is easy to believe it could have happened again similar to the what you described happened with SARS.

Dutch newspaper just published an article about multiple 'lockdown-exit strategies' are being studied, such as a geographical exit (one area gets out while others remain lockdown for a while longer) or people staying partially locked down based on their age. Other strategies include few weeks normal life-few weeks lockdown on and off.

Anyway, the scary part of the article...to fully flatten the curve and let the virus die...all mathematical models point out it takes about 800 days.
Can you imagine lockdowns or partly lockdowns for the next 2 years!?
Perhaps all or most governments have started to try to control something that we simply can't control. The damage to society will be unreal if we continue this strategy.

800 days  wow

From Stivi; *Thanks for the info!*
the central government will soon start a big testing campaign in the entire country to detect and isolate asymptomatic carriers of the virus before the lockdown shall graduallly get lifted. because of this, once that campaign is underway, the numbers will most likely rise again as currently a lot of covid-19 cases stay undetected because many people simply don't show any symptoms. still though, after three weeks of lockdown, the signs are definitely better now.
"detect and isolate asymptomatic carriers" sounds liek they want to find the carriers and isolate them allowing the other two types out - those that have had, and those that haven't. So once these isolated carriers are isolated...then what for them? There's no "cure" - so are they to stay indoors until the virus is naturally cleared? If so, how would they know, daily/weekly testing? Suppose the virus refuses to budge, does than mean locked inside for months? Years?
Don't get me wrong, it's excellent that there's hope on the horizon, but the thought occurs where we may end up treating carriers as leprosy victims.

This is so scary and sad but it would be the only way... Can't see another way out of this shit otherwise

I dont think it works that way. Your body will likely process the virus in a few weeks even if you are asymptomatic, just the same as if you did get "sick". Its not for life!!! :)

this simply to detect more than what is being detected currently. then isolate them until cured, either at their homes or in hotels etc. I can't see any bad thing in that myself

You say sars was man made, have you any solid articles to back this up?
I'd be interested to read them

not even the most pessimistic specialists say it'll be more than max 18 months (and likely less) until a cure or vaccine is found and available. it's obvious that with these lockdowns the governments try to a) contain the virus by getting and then keeping the R0 below 1 (read 'hammer and dance' theory) and b) of course also buy time until that cure/vaccine is available.

I personally don't think the lockdowns alone will make us beat the virus and thus possibly until the cure/vaccine is found, a combination of measures mentioned in that article might be applied.

Thanks for that, it's a relief as I don't fancy being indoors longer than necessary!
