if that theory keeps getting pressed or even proven it could well wage a war, hopefully we don't see tensions start to bubble and the focus remains on the issue at hand
very shit times indeed
I think at the moment world leaders are busy dealing with more pressing matters, and rightly so.
But as we emerge from this crisis, and the economic effect really starts to bite, then I think more answers will be demanded of how this all happened. I think China will receive a lot a of criticism, rightly or wrongly.
I can't imagine a war taking place over it, I think that is highly unlikely.
China has a grand ambition to become the world leading economic superpower, you only have to check how many fingers they have in pies across Africa and the Middle East. Waging war on a nuclear scale would totally ruin any chance of them achieving this. Notice how they have kept North Korea in check over the years.
Additionally, Trump is no fighting man and has no real offensive fighting spirit. It's alien to him. His experience and motivations are purely around business and the dollar. One of his tenets of election was bringing troops home, and he has done this.
An interesting situation hidden behind all this Covid 19 malarkey is the current oil price plummet. As China went into lockdown earlier in the year, their daily oil consumption reduced by approx 900,000 barrels per day. Russia and OPEC couldn't agree how to cover this reduce in demand, which inevitably led to the Saudis (basically OPEC - KSA runs the show) flooding the market with oil, forcing the price down low.
Total result for China as their economy comes back online. Laughing all the way to the bank, as they say. Although as the rest of the world is still in lockdown it begs the question, who will they export goods to?
I mean no malice in this, but I think people will soon forget the body count as they realise the realities of the economic fallout from this and how deeply it is going to effect us all.
Shit times indeed.
Apologies for a depressing as fcuk post. Just what you need on a lockdown monday.
