This thread is pretty much a reflection of the real world right now.

Started off all love and togetherness but few weeks of lockdown and now it's becomimg dog eat dog with a dash of 'them pesky foreigners'
It'll be man eat dog* if Sainsbury's is empty tomorrow. And I used to moan at Eroski.

*But not Craig's. Although I advise not to have any tomato ketchup nearby. Just in case.

latest numbers just out from spain are good, but have to be taken with a pinch of salt because it's the standings as of yesterday night 9pm. and as we've seen last week, the weekend numbers were better and then suddenly they jumped massively on tuesday when monday night numbers were reported.

but anyway: only 4273 newly infected people (lowest number in a long time), 637 deaths (also lowest number in a long time) and already 40K people recovered.

also only 27 newly infected people in the entire of the balearic islands (ibiza numbers to come later)

these numbers give hope, let's just hope we don't get a full whack again tomorrow and rather stay on the downwards curve now with new infections!

Good news. I do fear for the balearic islands though. They need the season but also if they risk opening the borders too soon / quickly they risk infection getting onto the islands and overwhelming their small healthcare systems. Personally I think we'd be lucky to see too many flights going anywhere over the next 4-5 months. Logistics wise most airlines don't expect that they will be able to go from a complete stop to full schedules in a short space of time now either.

understand your points.
as I said yesterday, in a first step I'd just be happy to be able to move around freely again. tourism will have to wait anyway.

Surprise, surprise ....

What does the article say?
Scientists still believe it came from the wet markets but some ministers or the people around them think it could be from a lab?

Is this like Trump and people around him who believe global warming does not exist/God over science etc

if that theory keeps getting pressed or even proven it could well wage a war, hopefully we don't see tensions start to bubble and the focus remains on the issue at hand

very shit times indeed

According to Giesecke which used to be the #1 in Sweden and is still an advisor to WHO the virus will peak in Sweden in around three weeks' time. Then it will plateau for a couple of weeks and then decline fast.

Spain is way ahead of this timeframe and have plateaued already. The problem though is that other nations are in different stages and some are just barely starting.

Unless we get a second wave a later season should not be impossible as things are.
