This was my favorite Cocoon yet. Sven in top form, playing nearly as hard as he would in the main room and never relenting, just getting progressively weirder as the morning drew on. And the after was phenomenal, really mixing things up with changes of pace, plenty of house and tech house during the daytime. I think the reason the after was so good was because Sven left himself enough room to explore new directions by playing such a fierce and straight ahead techno set the night before. So what made this the best Cocoon yet for me was the way the two sets complemented each other.
I had Leon Vynehall - It's Just (House of Dupree) as the last track at Amnesia, but admittedly the spacetime continuum was getting a little warped by then.
Other memorable moments from Amnesia for me were Daniel Bortz "Don't Disturb Bjorn" and Fx Mchn - Dunn (Roman Flugel Remix)...both played around the same time and really took things to the next level. I also discovered Dim Sum - "Breach" - for the first time. Holy crap.
Musical highlight of both parties for me was Vince Watson "Eminescence" - played near the end of each.
The after for me was the best one in recent memory. More intimate than in years past, and with sufficient amounts of proper weirdness, like Boney M - "Kalimba de Luna." It takes a special kind of madman to dust that one off and sing along to every word...while playing the air guitar for the slap bass solo, followed by the air pan flute (don't think I've seen that one attempted before).
Sven ended things with a couple hours of deep melodic techno - a really nice way to let everyone down gently. It was pouring cats and dogs so everyone crowded into the part of the dancefloor that had shelter from the rain. As messy as things got it made for a nice moody ambiance with the rain coming down all around. After that Targa track he actually put on one more, Larry Heard / Mr White - "You Rock Me." Wow.
Overall a very memorable night. And the kind of party where after it's over you feel like you're just playing with house money for the rest of the week

Thoroughly satisfying and hard to top!
