Cocoon 2015

Really? Hmmm. Never actually seen Richie in the Main Room, always the Terrace.

richie used to play the main room loads in the past. he only started playing the terrace when sven did really. I actually like the idea of them both playing the main room together, that hasn't happened for quite a while!

Will be a different experience for me. Looking forward to this one. Actually been a while since I have had a long session in the Main Room. I am such a Terrace Whore these days....

Since closing 2007?

Used to absolutely love Richie playing the main room. Not as keen on him on the terrace.

Think one of my 1st ever cocoons was Richie in the main room in 03 or 04. Still one of my favourite all time nights in Ibiza.

For me there's something special about Sven in the main room. The way he comes out fists flying, so much intensity in the first few hours...and the hour (ish) around mid-set when he'll go more deep and hypnotic, and then the weird-to-extremely-bizarre stuff once the sun is up in the other room. There were a few years in the late 2000s (07/08/09 sticks out) where those main room sets were just the most incredible stretches of music I think I've ever heard.

I love him on the Terrace too, and I like the sound he settles into there, but what's missing (admittedly for good reason given brighter environment) is that extra gear of rip-your-heart-out dark techno that I've heard him dust off in the main room so many times.

I also like his nighttime sets in the main room because it leaves more contrast for the music selections at the carry-on :)

I'll take Sven in either room over anyone anywhere else though!

Good Post! For me, over the last few years I've slightly moved away from really really dark techno that Sven can play in the Main Room, and I'm much more a Terrace Man. However, Sven is one of those DJs where I have to be there at the start and see it through. Some nights if I have walked into the main room mid-set and he's in some dark hole I just can't get there these days. I stayed with him the an entire set on the Terrace last year and you see why this guy is number 1 IMO. All about the journey. It's something that John Digweed is actually a genius at too, and doesn't get enough respect IMO - but you need to hear him play one of his 6-hour sets and stay there throughout.... While I love him at Pacha - 90-120 minutes isn't enough for him...

What is the deal with the afterparties? They always on and generally private events?
Going to be there on Monday 15th June.

Have to agree...last year on the Terrace (if you mean the closing?) I also couldn't step out for a single minute, it was perfection start to finish. He does lose me in the main room occasionally, but it's a price I'll gladly pay for the range he has in there.

For some reason after an all-night Terrace set, the next-day afterhours journey felt a bit more repetitive than usual, to me at least. Could have been observation bias though ;)

Also agreed on Digweed. His all-night sessions with Sasha at Twilo in late 90s / early 00s were what got me into dance music...Vath was an acquired taste soon to follow.

fan-f***in'-tastic ;)

amnesia was perfectly busy - not too packed, but just really comfy busy. lovely crowd as always with cocoon. dixon warmed up really well, sven played a very techy set. he got a bit more varied sound wise at the afters. 10/10.

Where is the after?? Is that every week?

cocoon do afterparties most weeks, but not always. the venue always changes. to get access to the afters (and to know where it happens) you need a separate wristband, which you can only get at the party from cocoon team members.

Jokes. I'll see if I'm still alive after Cocoon to make it

Thought amnesia could have stayed open just a little bit longer (that's how much fun we was having) however it is what it is.

Afters was good fun :)
