Afterlife 2017

There was a video on faceache at 1151 showing a very nice down tempo melody as you'd expect from a huge event for the last track so I'll guess it was about mid day as planned.
Wonder if there was an after party

I thought as much... Capatain Pirate was reporting that he was still in Privlege at 1PM on Facebook so I wasn't sure if continued on

If that is true...superb. It seems I've missed one of the best closings. Not surprised as line up was quality
It was like sunset terrace
The only contact I met was Slovenian girl waiting in artist list...1 Portuguese lovely girl not seen along her week Ri Perril met with his girlfriend,1 spotlight came to say hello with his wife as soon I enter Priv around 4am..but no idea his pseudo as I didn't understand his name here..

After party was km4 but wristbands required,French worker answering at the end of day not seeing my messages I could use her name for the list
Even with wristbands I couldn'd do this after party

okay, back in the land of the living..quick review:

our big night out started with dinner in can pilot - you need a proper big meal before a 24hr stint don´t you? from there, with stuffed tummies but not food-coma´ed, we made it down to privilege for 1ish. big queues outside there already. luckily we could sneak in through the back entry...I am never one to spend a lot of time in VIP or backstage areas, but I will admit that for this occasion we were all glad to have the required bands.

privilege was very very busy all night. the main room always kept being bearable while vista club did get packed from about 4am onwards. but as james pointed out further above, if you needed a bit of space you could find it round the back (in the coco loco area, around the tree). dixon, solomun and TOU were all very good and the hours from about 5 to 10am just flew by. we did spend most of time in vista club, but did venture into the main room every now and then too.

the last few hours in vista, when it was proper daylit already and not that packed anymore, were just fantastic. great vibe everywhere, trademark TOU sound, lots of smiles and a proper, proper closing party atmosphere. it stopped around 12:30 noon and it took us another hour or so before we were out of the building.

home for the usual pit stop (shower, fresh clothes, food and lots of water and a few beers) and then we were off to the afters. the pick up was at km5 parking and then you got transferred into the hills somewhere. very nice house (one I´d never been to before), not too big of an afters (maybe 250 people?), again TOU playing (even though konstantin was there too)...stayed there until close to midnight when the music stopped outside...then home and at 4am we finally went to bed.

recover & relax time now until monday night and we´ll do it all over again at cocoon closing & afterhours! my last dance of the season!

Back home in the early hours this morning after a marathon 24 hours on the island!

Had to queue for an hour to get in (for paid guestlist) but finally made it in just before 3.

Echo most of the comments regarding the night. I really enjoyed ToU for both their sets but couldn't really get into Dixon's. It started to get really hot and tight for space as well so went back in the main room for a while. That was a welcome relief if only to cool down and have a little room to dance.

Came back into Vista for Solomun and that's when I really started to enjoy the atmosphere in there. Was in front of the DJ booth and yes, it was uncomfortably busy at times, but it was also magical watching the sun come up on the dancefloor.

About 9ish, I needed to cool down and have a little break from the squeeze so we moved to the back of the room and that was bearable.

Legs held out till about 11:30. Queued for about half an hour for a cab.

Fantastic night overall and a poignant time for me personally as I hadn't been back to Privilege main room since Manumisson in '99!

you flew in for 24hrs, no hotel etc? Nice work :)

Yep, last minute decision to fly over and hotel made little sense when I knew I might not get back before check-out time. It would have been a very expensive place to store an overnight bag! Drop & Enjoy in PDB made it all very easy. You can drop a bag there and have a shower when you pick it up. Even provide towels and toiletries so I pretty much only needed a toothbrush and a change of clothes.

Wish I could have stayed for Cocoon, but with BPM last week and ADE coming up soon, there's no way I could have taken any more days off.

fantastic!

are you telling us you're not going to Amnesai closing? seriously!

I am indeed not this year. cocoon mon & tue and that´s it for me this summer. not interested in the slightest in either ushuaïa or hï closing parties and will most probably give dc10 closing a miss too...at a push I´m going for a few hours in the afternoon, can´t see myself doing the full circoloco closing we normally do. I have only little time to recover after that this year and am then off-island for the amnesia closing weekend.

will be back on the island afterwards again though and have two more parties planned - one is a special secret one on ADE weekend and the other one, the actual season closing, will be halloween of course. and then hibernation :)

The afters spot looked great. What a back yard and that DJ booth made out of tree branches was looked pretty professional. Who's place is that? I need to hit lotto and to buy that place.
