matt can u link us a video or song or something, i know nothing about them i just know i was NOT hoping for a ska band.
A has been band with no star potential, mildly famous 30 years ago, has no songs outside of England that anyone has even heard of, and is even known to less than one one hundredth of one percent of the English speaking population.
can understand totally why people aren't into it, but don't get how people can't appreciate it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxHcx7FO8nI
I wanted to say they're probably just too young to understand, but then I remember you're pretty young too!
But I will say that the Specials were a very UK phenomenon so unless you're a musical Anglophile like me, I could see how non-Brits wouldn't 'get' it.
It's all about open (musical) minds isn't it? And that's what Ibiza is all about!its hard to beat the music/culture you grow up with, but it doesn't mean you can't like it or get to know it or try to understand it or appreciate it.
e.g. paradise garage.
Come back and talk to me when you're old enough for your bar mitzvahYour just wrong...and your opinon is too.

letsgetdownanddirtybaby;1340348 I do condider myself a music coniseaur and have not heard a single song by The Specials. I also expect someone from England to understand that some bands that are big in England have no international appeal or popularity. There is a reason for this. Not every band is the Beatles. Unfortunatley said:I have traveled a small bit even the States, and in most cases music always comes up in conversations with people I meet around the world. Many that I have spoken to would have heard of the Specials especially Ghost Town as its such an iconic track.

Im not English but Irish. A band that you may be aware of in the states called U2, list the Specials as one of their musical influences when they were starting up. A lot of the English bands of that time were influenced by society and the mood of culture around them and this was reflected in their music.
Ibiza is about the music and the people .....not the bling status or international profile of the act. When you come to experience the unique connection Ibiza and different styles of Music have together, then you may get a better understanding of the place.
Do you see the Light?!
Now if U2 was at the closing party of Ibiza Rocks.
that would be legendary.

still
The Specials are really...
well..to me…
not.
I'll be sure to check out several minutes of the performance from my hotel room as i get myself ready for Umek at Space.
Perhaps with clothing, perhaps not.
Most likely someone without a lot of knowledge of the band will obviously mistake me for one of the 40 year old rockers so I've got that going for me. Perhaps I should consider a disguise to impress the 40 year old menopausal women that Ibiza Rocks will be filled with.
Quick, call MTV and let them know some older women in stretched out and faded leopard print mom jeans will be ready for their close up.
Rock and Roll.

If you like U2 then that explains it. Bono is the world record for the biggest crap!
