Definitely when Groove Armada dropped their (then) brand new tune "Superstylin'" at the first Big Beach Boutique. I had just turned up, and wasnt expecting anything too big, And there was this kind of chill music going on (like at the beginning of the song, when the musics quite and the mc's just goint "inspiratar" or something), then it stopped.
"Enter in the dance plug it in and we begin" And then there was a sea of 40,000 bodies seemingly from nowhere going ape at this brand new tune that no-one had ever heard before, but everyone was looking around all thinking "wow, what a tune!". I looked at my mates an we all thought "Yeah. Its gonna be one of 'them' ones. Lets Avit" and went non-stop crazy for the next few hours!
Billie Bushwacka never seems to get anything less than massive cheers. Probably because of the way it builds, and different people recognise it a differnt places, and then Boom the beat skips, and the bass kicks in and everyone cheeres in unison!
Once upon a time, Thrill Me used to get the crowd going aswell.
And remembering my garage past, Doolalay used to get played back to back rewinds many many times in a row, all because the crowd was going crazy.
DJ Gee dropping Blackwater at Bora Bora. Need I say more? once when it went down I was walking telling everyone that I was scared that I'll never this happy ever again!
Seeing the Stantons a few times, Da Antidote gets a roar each and every time.
And finally, Ive got a live recording of Fatboy Slim vs Arman van helden at the Brixton academy in 99 (or maybe 01?), and one of them (I'm not sure who) drops "U Dont even know me", but its looped and snapped in and out of the last mix, and he really treases the crowd with snippets of the beat. And as each bit comes in (the beat, then melody, then vocal) the cheers just get higher and higher!
