What exactly is paella?

I had my first paella a few weeks ago (chicken and seafood) and although it was okay it wasn't really my thing. Although I woouldn't mind one at Es Boldado at Cala d'Hort

I meant that some restaurants cook awful paellas and other places coock wonderfull ones

he does during the day every wednesday or sunday i think. might just be on a sunday actually.

he cooks it there in the sun, on the beach, all freash, in a huge paella pan - lovely jubbly.

Yes. That's true, and it sometimes gives 'Paella' a bad name
I once read an article about somewhere abroad where some Valencian tourists discovered they made in this place 'bocadillos de paella' (paella baguettes). No comments.

Ah, I forgot, forget those places where they offer something called 'Paella d'Or'. It's a pre-cooked mini-paella and use to be announced outside the bar/restaurant. That's not real paella, although it tastes similar. But not as good by far. But it's very common in places where they don't know how to cook it or they don't have enough time to do it. Rip-off.

the first year i went i got food poisoning from some paella in figueratas. worst two days of my life. luckily it was the last night and day of my holiday. funny how fast my immune system goes.
