Saturday up at 5am

to get the Eurostar to Paris, I can't believe I've lived in London for 7 years and never been on it - it's just so civilised and easy, one minute you're in London the next you're in Paris

The journey went in no time due to a few g n ts for breakfast and endless games of Top Trumps (mine and Tom's new fave game

) so we were in Paris by late morning. Took a short walk to the hotel, great hotel in fab location (thanks for the recommendation Grego

) which was very Soho-ish (well every other shop sold poppers so I was most at home

)
Checked in and walked up to the Sacre Coeur and had lunch and wines up there in the gorgeous sunshine, then explored the area a bit.
Saturday evening we had booked a table @ Georges which is on top of the Pompidou Centre - WOW

Dining al fresco with the most amazing views of Paris and out of this world food and wine

We left there and went to a strip club

and got a lap dance

Left there very late and very drunk so didn't emerge from our cave til lunchtime Sunday doing my best Gollum 'wwwaaaaaaaaaattttttterrrr' impression

Had breakfast in bed and then walked down to the Eiffel Tower and saw the sites. Paris was sooooooooo hot, the temperature boards were showing 40 degrees in the afternoon so we went on a boat road down the Seine to try and cool off a bit. Then went down the Champs Elysees and had a late lunch.
Sunday evening we explored some of the Opera area, stopping off at cafe bars for a few vinos and then had a late dinner and cocktails.
Monday was our 7 year anniversary (Happy Anniversary to us

) so we had a special anniversary breakfast and then explored the shops - found what must be the French equivalents to Selfridges and Harvey Nicks so I bought half the Lancombe counter and Tom got a couple of vests.
Finished off our trip with lunch and a few beers at a French/African restaurant and then got Eurostar back to London feeling all relaxed and rejuviernated..........to arrive @ Waterloo in the middle of rush-hour with a full-blown station evacutation and chaos on the streets - welcome home to good old London
Lovely anniversary weekend
