Pretty low key this weekend. This time last week I was living the dream, had just landed on Ibiza.
Although this weekend will be a new first time event for me. My oldest daughter (17) has been dating a lad for over a month or two now. I’m going to meet him at some point tomorrow. This is her first proper boyfriend and I’m keen to meet him and see what he’s all about. She was stressing out big time whenever I asked her if I could meet him. Finally got her to cave in.
Not sure how to handle it just yet. I don’t want to come across as a wanker lol. If anyone else has been through this I’m all ears.
Will be nice to actually meet the lad. They meet up every other night or so and spend most weekends together. He picks her up and drops her off at work and stuff like that. I share a house with my missus and other daughter. When all 3 of them are together they clash over anything. House is a bloody riot.
So whenever the oldest one is out with this lad, one corner of the triangle of pain is gone. Makes my life a lot easier. So I’ll thank him for that lol. Might actually bung him a few quid and tell him to take her out as much as he can
One thing I wont be doing is giving it any sort of hard man routine or whatever. When I mentioned this meeting to some of my mates they were coming out with all the classic crazy Dad stories

All very entertaining, but I think if I make a c*** of it then my daughter won’t be impressed with me. She has genuinely been a lot happier in herself the past few months, seems like she’s finally getting out of that huffy Kevin & Perry teenager phase.
See how it goes.
On another front, my missus has got some family over visiting for a few months from Australia. They haven’t been over for years due to the covid and all that. Its her Dads brother. He’s a right card, a Wallsend lad through and through. Moved away years ago and started a family over there. They were all out in Newcastle last night for a meal and a few bevvies and met up with a load of old buddies. Uncle Australia was f***ing blotto and was kicking off with people

I think he still thinks Newcastle is the same as it was in the 80’s when he left.
As a result of this the whole group of them are now barred from the Five Swans pub in Newcastle. A bunch of 60 year olds

. Even my daughters grandmother, she is barred too as she was with them. The most polite and nice lady you will ever meet. She enjoys making mince and dumplings and baking cakes etc. Fly with the crows you get shot with the crows as they say lol.
Anyway, I’m getting an early night. Taking my youngest daughter body boarding in the North Sea tomorrow morning

. It certainly wont be as warm as the sea was in Ibiza last week
Take care
