Weekend Plans

final swims of the year, after a couple of weeks off work, then back to the big bad city.

serious discussion about leaving town and moving to sticks for good - weighing up pros/cons of buying cheap land and doing up old building - still doable... if cities are no fun anymore, there's no music and you never see anyone, what is the point?

A move you won't regret believe me.. if possible do it.. and if only an hour or two out of the city that's extra bonus..

do you never go swimming in barcelona?

ha! that reminds me. during lockdown we watched Rich Hall's Facebook streams from a porch in Montana. very dry and funny, well worth a watch if they're still up.

never. we do drink at the chiringuitos at Bogatell and Forum but the beach itself is not for me - gets a bit dirty + too many kids + a few too many dodgy people hanging about whereas costa brava is a lot cleaner and more relaxed (god I'm old)

yeah costa brava is gorgeous I agree. personally probably would still go swimming every now and then if I lived in BCN

September's not the best time because you get the storms and dead rats and sewage often washes up. The nearest quality beach (imo) is probably Casteldefells (superb paellas bbqed) and further down to Sitges and Vilanova. Going north the sea gets deep fast whereas the south it stays pretty shallow.

btw, not sure if you're already familiar but - next time you're hiking over here, the Les Planes <> La Foresta trail is a good one to follow if you head inland to Barcelona provincia. Didn't realise until recently, a lot of hippies or perroflautas (crusties) ended up around there working the markets (probably priced out of Gracia).

?? perroflautas o pies negros as they say here too.

thanks re hiking trail!

It can give quite a lot of nausea going through your stomach although never had this if you are already on something else ... Boofing in liquid is supposedly a good option
Think the boof is for the bedroom only, in case something backfires ?
