Some fair replies on my earlier Disclosure post, thanks.
I'm just a bit annoyed that they have already been roped into to those sorts of cheesy kids summer ball events so quickly. I can understand that the pound signs have a big influence on this. But as a few of you have rightly pointed out, they are clearly very talented lads who have just got going.
I was hoping to see a bit more raw stuff from them, but now I fear they will be told what sort of stuff to produce, and will be told who they will be collaborating with on future tracks etc. So for me, yes, they have already sold out before really showing us what they can do.
As for the performance itself, I have read their own 'apologies' on what happened at Wembley. But it's no excuse. If they had any balls, they should have put their foot down and said it's our way or nothing. That would have been refreshing. They are clearly now one of 'POP' music's biggest acts, so they should be able to have a bigger say in their own performances if they are that good, shouldn't they? Yet again, bottling standing up for themselves is just another sign of selling out.
I guess it's just a sign of the times with regards to underground house music becoming more mainstream these days. These lads are just the latest in a line of recent sell outs. Guetta, S.H.M etc. When you get the likes of Tinchy thingeymebob, Pitbull, Dizzy what's his face etc appearing on your track, then you've gone for me. If you listen to most mainstream radio stations in the UK today, every second track that is being played has got that unmistakable 'wanna be a house track' Guetta-esque sample in it.
It's all wrong I tell thee!!!
But hey, that's just my current opinion! Would be good to see things change for the better, sooner rather than later.
Cheers
