Way out bars

seeing as you all go to the same half a dozen bars that are all exactly the same - same banging music, same high prices, same clientelle etc etc etc in an identical manner, i thought i'd open a new section for those who want to DARE TO BE DIFFERENT.

the first entry into this category is.... dah dah....
Athena in Cala Llonga ( just at the top of the road down to the resort).
I can assure you, you'll never have seen anything like it!

Now, does anyone else have something a little out of the ordinary to add to this list?

here's another to get the ball rolling.

Can Sulayetans near San Miguel.

mosaics, zebra prints, log stove, hippy haunt with supermarket attached.
 
stephen, i'll agree with you that yes the ATHENA in cala Llonga is certainly DIFFERENT.

In fact my honest opinon of the place is that its ghastly, but hey my opnion counts for very little.

A little story from that place.
Someone i know went there for their tea. They asked for some 'fries' as a side portion, only when they got their side portion of 'fries' they had a little shock..........they had a plate a 'flies' no joke.....

I can understand if you don't believe me....
It is certainly different....

es racó verd in san jose, bar anita in san carlos and of course, bar costa in santa gertrudis!! 8)

i think the correct spelling is can soleietes!! ;)

on the north of ibiza there are lots of unknown and unexplored beauty spots that you wont find on maps. the can soleietes road leads to es margalló hill. once you are on the top you can go down to es portitxol beach or to sa punta de s'aguila. happy exploring!! :p

they have another place in pdb 'coto tropical' though i've never been

definitely agree with that one - great fun sat outside waiting for the accidents to happen :lol:

okay - can sulayetas. i knew it wasnt called sulayetans but i saw it somewhere written as soleietes!! :rolleyes:

coto tropical is a small snack bar behind the insula augusta restaurant - facing bora bora. last year they suffered a kind of revenge and somebody wrecked the bar!! :eek:

what makes special to bar anita are its delicious hierbas!! :p

another favourite is can cosmi in santa inés. their busiest month is february because lots of people go to santa inés to see the almond trees. dont forget to try their tortillas!! :D

shame that nobody wants to add more interesting bars!! :rolleyes:

another of my favourites is can jordi in ses portes d'es cel (heaven doors) - santa inés:

the bar is on the top of a cliff and the views are breathtaking (according to stephen - this bar has the most stunning view in all ibiza). more info about this area here!! ;)

theres a really "good" bar called the beaver bar at the top of the west end,its really out the way from nitelife and when wasted should take at least 40 minutes to get there,stunning views as well!
 
Hey good post!

Maybe someone can help me with a small little place I'd like to re visit but can't remember where it is?

It was 1996 and it was up in the north. It was in a small bay on a steep winding road and there were a couple of other buildings there. Only other clue I can offer is that they had hundreds of kinds of bottled beers for sale (or at least on display). Does that ring any bells?
 
try the london pub in san an! very different! they had hardcore porn on the telly when we got dragged in there! sweet!!

Bambuddha Grove's bar..the best cocktails on the island and a well funky setting...bit out of the way..but hey that's the idea..

Stephen, if you are ironic in Catalunya you will be the king, we have a very british sense of humor. Most BBC comedies are "classics" here (I am "the young ones" generation) when in the rest of Spain nobody like them :D
