surly someone can say if they are offended by a certain religion or not without offending?
I see absolutely no difference! Seriously.
I know that was supposed to be in jest but religion is all about being at the mercy of another...or in bondage.
Organised religion is no different to S&M - in fact it's an SM practice in itself.
is this really any different to other religions who seem to bizzarely have a code of dress for some reasons, Look at jewish men and women, why is it the men always were black suits with those ridiculous hats and have beards, and why do their wives look like marks and spencer victims wearing the same thick tights, tweed skirts and bob hair styles.

No they are not. Of cource clothes can offend people.
Old people would probably be scared sitting next to a hoddie, or punk, so what differnce is there with someone being offerend due to not knowing what a person looks like.
if a group of people walked upto be and I could not see any of their faces I'd be scared, whether they are wearing a veil or a helmet

I find it ironic that the veil is being blamed for increasing separatism. One of the key drivers in the growth of Muslim extremism is the feeling that their religion is under attack from the west. By calling such attention to this small issue, the press is just exacerbating the situation. I saw a headline the other day (think it was the evening standard) saying 'Muslim Cab driver bans guide dog'. Deliberately incindiary articles like that and the stuff they publish in the Daily Hate Mail is neither representative nor helpful - I think it's time the press to some responsibility for what they print.

I am very open-minded. But that doesn't mean I have to agree with a woman covering herself head to toe in a black sheet. I don't feel there's any place for it in Modern Society. Yes if a woman really does want to cover herself like that, fine, who are we to judge? But sadly I would guess that 90% of Muslim women who wear the full Burkha do it because of opression, not out of personal choice.
IMO that is not being open minded.

No, like I've said before. If the hair and neck is covered but the person's face is still visible it still makes them a PERSON... not just a silent black sheet moving along the street!
Besides, they're nuns!! And that is their most extreme form of dress. They wouldn't wear that shopping in Tescos would they?

I have no respect for religion as i am not religious...end of!
neither do i detest the person who is religious, just the religion they stand for. The whole concept is just so hypocritical.
If there is such a thing as a greater being, a creator, why is that there is so many different religions which believe in so many different gods...which one is right?
We all seem to accept that religion is a logical concept and thinks its wrong to belittle the subject, however if we all said we believe in santa claus and walked round in santa claus outfits we would all be sectioned under the mental health act and ridiculed. Whilst i may have digressed slightly, my point still remains in that it seems so pathetic IMO for people regardless of what they believe to think they have to justify it with the clothing they wear.
Kind of reminds me of youth culture accept one step further, when your kids to sort of link yourself to a group to get an 'identity' such as goths, skinheads, metal heads, punks, mods....bla blah.

Yes...did you see the front page of the Sun last Saturday.."Muslims attack war hero's" or something like that...designed to stoke up and create more problems in an already tense situation
It was a completely biased piece of reporting that only portrayed one side of an ongoing conflict between local youths and a Muslim dairy factory owner who allegedly wanted to convert part of his factory into a Mosque.
Obviously both sides in that case were contributing to the rising tensions but the way it was portrayed was ridiculous and irresponsible
funny you say that I only said it because I saw a nun in dress walking out of Tesco about 30 mins ago.
