The footy !!

Looks like the powers that be at Anfield have decided Dalglish is not the man for the job...

Andre Villas-Boas of Porto is reported to have signed a pre-contract agreement with Liverpool.

IF the reports are true, then I hope they're right and I'm wrong, because I would have already given Kenny the contract.

:(

Kenny's best mate Alan Hansen will be gutted then he was spouting on about how 'the job is his' etc etc on MOTD

He will look a bit silly.

I can't belive they would not back Dalglish - I was mouthing off to anyone about how he was not the man to the job, however this was based on him being out for however long.

That evidently means nothing & what I did not appreciate was the charisma & leadership of the guy...humble pie eaten.

The pre-contract story has been doing the rounds for a while now.

Yep, there were noises in January about him but there seems to be another wave this last week.

I sincerely hope it's a false alarm & Mr Hansen is right.

This will be one way for the new owners to pi$$ alot of fans off.

Must admit ill be a tad dissapointes, id have love to see kenny given at least next season with some new additions.

The last manager you wanted was Hodgson, so maybe we should go with Boas ;)

am kakking it, tbh - they've got the wind in their sails now... at least the first leg's away

I think that's precisely why he did it.. he's sensing a wave of pessimism amongst the Barca "entorno" and the general Barca fans.

I heard the press conference live.. it was brilliant theatre.
I guess whether it was right or wrong will depend on the result tonight, but in principle I did agree with him. Mourinho's earlier press conference was utterly disrespectful EVEN by Mourinho standards..

im gutted about iniesta being out

i just don't understand why people get wound up when it's so obvious that that's what mourinho does. It just reeks of Keegan 1996 or Rafa's FACTS. Once you've had your hissy fit you lose that statemanlike aura and it transmits to the players

one positive is the number of madrid players on cards - hopefully that will tame the thuggery

Jose got right under his skin, didn't he

Pep is right.. doesn't matter on the pitch. But still brilliant stuff!

thing is though, this annoys me. it's like with the missus, you can't respond. you can't say anything at all, it's lose-lose.

if you say nothing, you appear weak and defeated.

if you say something, however rational or logical or calmly done, it's like you're losing it and being wound up. it's like it can't just be "a response".

i have to say i laughed out loud when i heard pep say what he said. it was nowhere near as ranty as keegan or as cringe as rafa. it just made me laugh (at mourinho).

I laughed... but certainly not at Mourinho

I actually thought Rafa, for all his dickish statements, usually got the better of Mourinho in the press (by successfully trying to come off as somehow less catty despite the fact he was being just as bad as Jose). Used to really make me mad

Stout defending is not thuggery. Football is a contact sport.

Kind of like me announcing i'd be ready to be chief steak taster for the gaucho grill - that is surely not going to happen.

Difficult to see where they go tho whilst giving the impression they are trading up - I say big sam.

Is the position open I would like that job steak hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Ferd doesn't like the fact I mention this at every opportunity - but just how embarrassing is the play-acting?! It's become a running gag.
It frightens me that one of the best (if not THE best) league in the World, and their supporters, put up with it. Let's not beat around the bush, it's cheating. It's pretty much the lowest form of cheating to be found in the game and it makes it incredibly hard for the neutral to watch.
Some of the best footballers ever to have lived, allowing this nonsense to be part of their game.
