Chelsea target Franck Ribery quizzed over child prostitution ring in Paris

International winger Franck Ribery, who is thought to be a summer target for Chelsea,
has been called to give evidence over a French police investigation
into a child prostitution case in Paris.

The Bayern Munich star, 27, is among four players from the French national team
to have been called before a judge in the capital over the probe,
which centres on a cafe night club in the Champs-Elysees district.

A statement from Ribery's representative, Sophie Bottai, said:
'Personalities including Franck Ribery and other players of international fame count
in their relations a person close to the leader of an escort girls network.
'It is only because of that relationship that they have been or will be heard
by police investigating this case.'

The club, called Zaman Cafe, is thought to be a popular hang-out
for high-profile French footballers.

And allegations have been made it is also used to house working prostitutes -
some of whom are under the age of 18.

Jean-Pierre Escalettes, president of the French Football Federation,
is quoted by the Daily Telegraph as saying: 'An investigation is under way.
'There is nothing else to say at the moment.'

Under French law, any person found guilty of having sex with a prostitute
under the age of 18 can be sentenced to up to three years in prison.

However, sources close to the investigation suggest no players will face charges
of this kind.

Nevertheless, the news will be an unwelcome distraction to the French squad
ahead of the World Cup, which begins in just over seven weeks time on 11th June.

Why? Because he didn't give Barca that one clearcut penalty? At least it wasn't 4 clearcut penalties!

you still banging on about that
only 3 were clearcut ;)

milito goal was offside as well last night

kinda blows the conspiracy theories out of the water
refs/linesmen are just poor and make mistakes

The ref was poor, but thats no excuse, neither is the coach journey.

Messi lost the ball more than ever, ibrahimovic was awful.. with these two out of sorts we really need Iniestas creativity.

Still im confident we'll turn it round. Got a feeling the 2nd leg will be amazing.. with 95,000 fans behind us.

Definitely 4. It was the 5th one that was 50-50

I watched the match last night and though the ref was fine. No worse than usual.

That one Inter goal might have been offside but very very close and it could go either way.

The no penalty/yellow card situation at the end was a mistake although the way players from both teams toss themselves about the pitch, and the way Schneider appeared from some angles to have pulled back before making contact, it wasn't surprising.

a bad defeat, and an undeniable crash down to earth, after the astronomical football of the last couple of months

'La remontada' (the comeback) is possible but going to be very hard... esp if Inter park 11 men (a bus?) in front of goal

there are precedents though. Didn't Chelsea once get turned over 5-1 after a 3-1 in the first leg? :D

All teed up to be one of the great games, so no doubt will be nil nil.

Ibramimovich = barcas berbatov.

Some of the statements about playing the beatifull game from the barca people this year did suggest a possible dissapearing up their own ar se potential, perhaps a down to earth will be heathy?

What a huge loss to Chelsea the special one was. I reckon 2 champion league titles would have been achievable with Jose in charge.
