I wouldn't call quarterfinals against Spain an "advantage"
It wasn't smart for us to score that 1:1 against Switzerland in the last group game...The new rules of football will take some time to get used to. Touch a ball with a hand so gently that only the sensor built into the ball detects it - the opponent gets awarded a penalty kick. Prevent a goal with your arm - no penalty kick
Anyway, with my team out, I can now support the remaining team with the most attractive football
It's joy to see them play, even though it's not always joy to see them win!

Bloody hell, I’ve got a right dilemma now.
I drew the Netherlands in the sweepstake at work.
It would be nice to see England win, but it would also be nice to possibly win £180 if the crazy Dutch make it all the way.
I’m torn.

I thought Germany and Kloos in particular played really dirty against Spain. Perhaps like the Dutch in 2010 they felt that was the only way to disrupt their game. They could easily have won it though
The French look solid but their shooting was terrible too. With that injury Mbappé looks v uncomfortable compared to Qatar. I think all the neutrals were rooting for the French. Roberto Martinez was too cowardly to take that repulsive crybaby off - the only player who didn't reach out to Joao Felix at the end - which says it all...
Dutch looking good and the dark horses for me
As for the English, a pretty average side (saved by a few individual moments), but then I guess that didn't stop Greece in 2004
or Portugal in 2016.
I'm pleased the Dutch won. That will be a more balanced game. Had Turkey gone through they would have just thrown caution to the wind and gone for it - and I don't think we'd have been able to handle that. That's what happens when your team isn't reliant on any prima donnas or recognised world class players - everybody knows they have to play their bit and there's more team unity. Pretty similar to the Scots in that respect
We still owed some retribution against Koeman for WC 1994 - probably a bit too distant a memory for this England team and a lot of the fans now

Fully agree, it was like pre-2006 Germany. We had no chance to outplay the Spanish (though they did get tired towards the end of the game), but we had a chance to out-fight them, and that's what the team tried to do. Quite ironic that after Kroos injured Pedri, Olmo came as a replacement and scored the 1:0.

This is my second time (after 2006) to experience a major football tournament in my own country, and it's such a great joy. Saw Slovakia beat Belgium in the stadium, visited fan zones in several cities. It's less wild than 2006 was (the whole country transformed into a huge party for a month back then), but still, if someone offered me to go to Ibiza during the Euro for free, I would have stayed at home

Quite a few bars in the front line of the port have big screens outside … if you use Google maps then look close to Ryan’s La Marina hotel (which will also have the game on)

What a great game, especially the first half. A bit unfair for Cucurella to be constantly booed - it wasn't him who decided against a penalty kick in the previous game.
I will be rooting for England in the 2nd semis, simply because I want to enjoy British tabloid headlines after Spain ravages them in the finals

If England manage to play the final , it was a good tournament for them. There is no reason to criticise them. The spanish are a more complete team with much more offense skills. Btw : The Munich crowd was as we know the munich crowd : They should go to Bayern Munich.
In Frankfurt this would not happen ( except some of them come there, what we will not hope ).
