The Footy... (2011-2012 season)

Hey guys, I'll be in Barcelona before Ibiza for the Barcelona vs. Atlético Madrid match. Never been to a game in Europe. Is this a game worth going to? Don't know much about Atlético Madrid...

Atletico is a pretty good team.... if they don't sell all their best players this summer! Already sold their goalkeeper and they're about to sell their best forward!

It's definitely worth it though. I've only seen the Nou Camp from the outside but I'm very much looking forward to going to a match there some day. It's a massive stadium (a proper US American Football size stadium... not the smaller football grounds most teams in Europe have) and the crowd is boisterous.

Get to ****!! What a load of bollocks, granted there will be M-bombs dropped when we go to OT, but we are not as obsessed with them as they are us to sing about them on a weekly basis, their whole songlist is anti-scouse and the thick ****s then sing Rooney, Rooney.... And this is from someone who goes week in week out, so I know what I'm talking about.

 hey Im no fan of the rags myself, to say I despise them would be classic understatement, Im just pointing out facts, but if it makes you feel better we'll say Liverpool fans "NEVER" mention the Bavarian capital

I would go they have museum also that you can go into. Atletico Madrid is a good side, it should be a good match to see even if the outcome is already decided. Just look at previous years the Nou camp is a fortress.

I'm not saying it doesn't get mentioned, I take exception that you say we sing about them every week...we buzz off their obsession with us....listen to any game they are on live and within 5 minutes you'll have heard an anti scouse song, listen to any Liverpool crowd and you won't hear them mentioned at all...the M-bombs have crept back in in recent seasons at OT, it's a comeback to the constant Hillsborough songs and gestures aimed at us.

fully understand ourkid, not trying to get anyones back up, they are just as obsessed with us although they will deny it until they are blue in the face. (;))
There are idiots at city that do it to (the M thing) what makes it worse though is that Frank Swift was killed in it and Matt Busby was one of Citys longest serving players, still is.

Klinsman. Hope so.

Yes, a bit of a surprise given what he's accomplished for us, but not entirely given the drubbing we took against the Mexicans in the Gold Cup.

Yes the team has hit a plateau, world cup and more importantly the gold cup performance were signs a change was needed. If you remember I wanted him gone after the world cup. The team needs a new direction for WC qualifying.

So... all you Reds. 15 goals allowed in 5 pre-season games, and Gerrard out until mid-autumn.

How confident are you feeling now?

they will still say they are gonna win the league, and trot out some stupid ridiculous stat to 'prove' it.

in all seriousness, i think they will do ok. the money spent has improved the squad and the team (not as much improvement will be seen as you would hope for from the outlay in my view though), and i think they will challenge to be in the top 4.

John Henry has put a bit of pressure on by saying he expects a top 4 finish.

As has been said many times before Gerrard missed alot of games towards the end of last season when we went on our best run.
We haven't had what will probably be our starting back 5 play once together so far this pre season.

I think the one key thing that is also not been mentioned is that Lucas who plays just in front of the back four hasn't featured at all. Wait until he is back up and running and they'll be a big difference.

Top 6 I think

As a Liverpool fan i'd say 4th is the best we look likely to achieve.
Can see it being Man U/City > Chelsea > Liverpool/Arsenal > Tottenham.

Both city and United have improved their squads and not lost any major players as of yet (scholes was only bit part last year)

Chelsea will always be up there but AVB really does need to sort out his attack. towards the end of last season it was a bit of shambles.

Arsenal were unlucky with injuries last season, if (very big) they keep Nasri and Fabergas i fully expect them to be right up there challenging for the title.

Towards the end of last season Liverpool hit a great run. Did well against the clubs around us but very poor against the lesser teams...sort this out and you never know.

Tottenham really struggled last season with Europe and the league, can see the Europe league making it even worse for them this year and with no improvement & possible Modric departure can't see them doing better than 6th.
