The Footy... (2011-2012 season)

Anyone watch Panorama yesterday? scary stuff.

I'm sure it will run smoothly because you get idiots everywhere, and sadly most seem to congregate in football grounds

Looks worse than that to me. A significant minority of people doing Nazi salutes unchallenged by the authorities and a denial by the police chief that they were, despite them shouting 'Sieg Hail' as they did it, doesn't suggest it's going to be any way controlled.

Hope I'm wrong.

the bit at the end where they went after those lone asians who were supporting the home team was proper cowardice.

but a massive banner saying 'burn the hook noses' or whatever, they've got big problems socially. if it's a small minority, there is a large majority - why aren't they doing anything to stop them? if you started doing stuff like that in a ground here, normal people would do something about it. i don't see that happening over there.

bit annoyed they stole 'zigga zagga' off us though.

wouldn't put me off travelling if we get out of the group stage but i can't drum up any interest in this tournament whatsoever. such an uninspiring bunch led by an uninspiring manager. i lost interest when i read glen johnson's name in the squad and switched off at downing.

i hope we do well out there, but i can't see it happening - i was more hopeful in south africa, and we were sh*t there too.

I hope all goes well, international football is more expensive than local football. That should keep the scum factor lower. I have traveled to Poland and the Ukraine with out a problem, but some people use a spotlight for their cause no matter how sh1tty it is. The police will have to be on their P's and Q's.

I don't think people travelling with intent on causing bother will be too fussed if they have tickets or not.

I expect plenty rucks.

I dunno. I've been to Donetsk once and Kiev plenty of times, most recently a year ago. I haven't really had any problems (aside from one small incident in 2002). In general, Ukrainians are a friendly bunch.

uefa told the suspended players to put their kits on for consistency in the celebration photos.

Yeah nice of the media to give it such coverage...

Well, the club usually announces it as soon as a deal is done so I'd guess it's not a done deal yet.

Just announced the Eden Hazard deal today 8)

Who you got to win jaycool? I think Germany they have a awesome new breed of talent coming through and i think Spain have played to much football and might not play as well as they can.

Hazard confirmed by Chelsea? Seems to be a big risk imo for someone relativism unproven but undoubtedly talented.

Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Ukraine, Italy, England, Greece, and Poland are my picks to top the groups. I will pick the Netherlands to win it all.

I wouldn't wish the fat Spanish waiter on my worst enemy

but.....

Come on you Spurs.... :lol::lol::lol:

All due respect he could have gone to you...and prbably done better than ALOt that you have had over the years...how many have you had again? 8 in 8 years??

Also while im glad to see robbie get the job, I cant help but think it will be like Kenny was with us, give you an innitial lift and do well, but then over a season wont live upto expectations..he couldnt do it for west brom at the end of the day !!

Yep, about as many players as Benitez rifled through in each position over... how long? 4 years?

Got the Baggies promoted, didn't he?

Only way he'd possibly be getting a job anywhere near SB is if Marco Pierre White starts selling Tapas.

He wasn't in contention last time and look how he practically begged for the job. (Even went on MOTD to do so). Even his agent had to admit we hadn't been in touch embarassing is the word I think.

... and no I don't think he'd have done a better job than any of our other managers since Roman - not even Scolari or AVB, look at what he did at Inter.

Perfect fit at the lane though...:lol::lol:

Surely, given the financial resources available, and stature of the club, it would be easier to succeed at a club like Chelsea, than an unfashionable, modest minnows (in comparison) like West Brom?

Lets not forget he also had a decent, albeit short stint as Head Coach of MK Dons.

I don't think Di Matteo's ability as a coach can be questioned. His ability to lure the top talent? Hmmm, ... perhaps. Althought it hasn't put off Eden Hazard. His only real weakness is that he is working for a trigger happy Chairman who wants a "yes" man, and immediate success.

Exactly, was a success initially. But then he lost something like 15 out of 17 only to get the sack. Short term I think he's a great motivator/man manager, but over the long run I doubt hell be good enough. I'd be surprised if he sees the season out, if he does then hell probably still be replaced next summer.

True or not ?

Truth is, I don't think Ambrovich will ever find what he is looking for.

The closest he got was Jose, and even that ended on a sour note.

So, in that regards, true.
