The Footy... (2011-2012 season)

Is it just me or does anybody else really not give a flying one about the team GB Olympic football team/matches?
Football focus getting all excited....why?

Erm...because we haven't had a team compete for over 50 years. I don't know what it is with people putting a downer on the Olympics, seems to be the 'in thing' like quilted jackets and black boots. Way over my head.

there is defending and there is parking the bus.

credit to chelsea on winning, but they parked the bus. to me that isn't really part of football. at most it's a necessary evil to be very rarely used.

morbs - yeah, i hear the flip side. it paid off and ultimately, that's all that matters, the result.

I take it you've never played football then. That response screams of someone who hasn't. Would you say the same to a Greek after their Euro final win?

I can't stand Chelski but that summary is utter guff.

Probably. How many times since or from now will that happen? I bet not many.

Plus 2004 was a very bad time for big national teams. Spain & Germany were in transition, France on their way down. Italy were pretty shocking (knocked out by Sweden and Denmark)

You miss the point, a tournament win is a tournament win regardless of how you do it.

Let me guess a knee injury ruled put his playing career

!!??

sounds like you need a cuddle!

anyway point is that it's still anti-football. greece deserved to win euro 2004 cos they had their game plan and it worked, but it's definitely not good for the game. agreed?

Don't mind hodgson but won't expect him to stay for longer than 2 years, he wont be able to handle the media pressure.

There are a lot of things not good for the game ie Money buys you success, same teams always winning, inconsistent refereeing, SEP BLATTER, video technology not utilised, agents having too much power, the list goes on.

I would argue that the Greece victory or any win by a non super power team/country is good for the game as it adds colour and drama to the game.

Well I support Blackpool FC so I've seen both extremes but if we'd been more defensive in some games last season we may have stayed up. Sometimes you need to do anything to win.

Who is it you support fella?

Have you seen the countries he's managed in? He'll handle if just fine.

And is there really any pressure this time round? Expectations are at an all time low. Anything better than the group stages is a bonus.

Still can't figure out what's anti-football about sticking the ball in the net more times than your opponent,

(that's the very essence of it if you ask me)

It's not our fault you didn't track Torres' run...
