The Footy... (2011-2012 season)

Fair? On whom? The English Premier League team I assume you mean, which means they would go in at the expense of another nationality CHAMPIONS!!! :spank:
Ya, I agree with this.

It's a European competition. Moldova's champions should have at least as much a chance as England's 4th place team, if not better!

Hat off to Bayern Munchen, Real Madrid was horrible at PK's. Both sides will be missing player I give the edge to Bayern.

They'll have home advantage so of course they are favorites.

Three players out for Bayern and four for Chelsea so hopefully that will even things up a bit
(Luiz Gustavo was all over the place tonight, by the way. Great job breaking up play but a few too many fouls too)

With 7 starting players out of the final, there's got to be some discussion of the rules?

The upside is that some hotel rooms should be freeing up about now :D

They should revise the rules and only keep out players with a red card in the semi's. There was a lot of fouls.

to be fair, ronaldo and kaka didnt take bad penalties, got to give credit to neuer for two good saves.

Ramos however, well I think thats still in orbit!

Ramos saved our planet:)

They were both comfortable saves, Neuer guess right but were not into the corner.

Im a Chelsea supporter since the ruud gullit days .

As opposed to the John Bumstead days? I know a few Chelsea fans who say that like it is some sort of achievement. Be fair I know plenty that were there in the old days too and pleased for them, well I try to be.

Fair play to Chelsea rode their luck but deserved it over the 2 legs. Had a bit of a debate with some who said Chelsea were massive underdogs which I disagreed with. A squad with those players and cost that much money are certainly no way massive underdogs hardly Apoel Nicosia. They should be there or thereabouts.

Makes an interesting final though and someone different too rather than the usual suspects. I heard ET got knocked off his bike by Ramos' penalty.

Don't fall for the myth that the cost of a team is directly correlated to the quality of its players. Sometimes you pay over the odds (Torres! Carroll!), sometimes you get a top player on the cheap, and sometimes (someday!) your academy turns out a gem. It all depends on a variety of circumstances. At a certain level, total transfer fees paid only makes a difference if you're a tabloid journalist.

We certainly weren't Apoel Nicosia level underdogs, but we were underdogs. In Barca we're talking about the reigning Spanish, European and World club champions :!: We have a good team but there's not a team on Earth that doesn't have a hard time containing Barca's passing game. And Messi!

The six place form in the EPL says money can't buy a quality team.;)

Oh come on Morbs you were in a semi final of the champions league so the squad can't be that bad to have got there in the first place. What is Barca's record like against Chelsea too? Chelsea have played them enough times now to know what it takes to beat them. (that is the problem now with the CL that there are no surprises as the same teams face each otehr all the time bring back the good old straight forward knockout which is a seperate agurment)

Was hardly the giant killing that some are portraying that is all I am saying. Money is being spent (how it is spent is an entirely different matter) on a squad that should be challenging for all the honours and have an owner who thinks so too - Shirley you can't deny that?

Barca lacked a plan B in the end. Big Fat Sam would have had that ball in the box, elbows flying, bodies everywhere, creating panic and then they might have got somewhere. All that tippy toe football looks pretty but sometimes you just have to lump it in and hope for the best. Still you have to respect them for the beliefs and sticking to their guns and I suppose they don't know any other way to play nor have anyone over 6 ft.

read my earlier comment

"I don't buy all this "Barca were poor because they don't have a plan B".
3 league titles, 2 CL, one spanish cup plus european supercups and world club cups.. all this since 2009 implies we don't really need it. Id rather stay as we are than have a plan b and sacrificing some of our usual style of play."

like you say, we only have about 4 players over 6 foot in our entire squad anyway.

Great game yesterday... good to see two teams trying to attack for a chance.. only kidding ;)

I was over the moon with the outcome.. God I love these football rivalries where your enemy's misfortunes suddenly makes your own bad result seem that much better!

I think Bayern are favourites for the final but I wouldnt bet against Di Matteo right now.

Who got suspended from Bayern? Was it mainly the defense?
