The end of the West End?

This remains a key point "there were still technical issues, such as “ensuring the quality of the paint to be resistant to detergents and the passage of vehicles,” in order for it to “hold up well throughout the season”

Can the materials withstand summers of heat, puke, piss, bleach, lauging gas cansiter drops and god knows what else!

If this actually happens I really want to see it. But after reading the above post I’m thinking it won’t be looking it’s best come October….

This doesn't explain the government crusade against low-end tourist businesses.
Hear-hear!
No doubt, since half of 5* hotels on the island are closed already. This doesn't mean you can convert every hotel in San An into a 5* luxury resort and make 5x the money. The demand has grown multiple times for sure, but it is still way too low to sustain the island's economy on luxury travel alone.
I have posted in the Ibiza hotels thread but in June, for a week, THB Ocean beach is 90% more expensive than one of the best 5 star hotels in Tenerife and about 10% more expensive than Melia Puerto Banus.

That's almost two grand for a week in Ocean Beach, in a standard room.

There comes a point where you reach a certain age and budget and have so many other options, its not sustainable pricing even for 4 star hotels in Ibiza, never mind 5 star hotels.

But, but, you get free entry to O Beach and the chance to get felt up by Wayne Lineker. A bargain, surely?

Hah, well I think O Beach is good fun, I have stayed there twice. Wayne deserves some credit for the venue and the setup (as do the hotel staff) but yeah, there's a limit between 'fun hotel/clubbing concept' with TOWIE wannabees and making the Melia Banus/La Sala combo look like good value, albeit with women that are 20 years older and have self-entitlement issues.

Agree that prices are outragious at the moment, but if you are staying at OBeach, Ushuaia or Ibiza Rocks you have to include that you are getting access to the gigs which is worth a lot across the week. I wouldent want to be stuck in one venue all week but thats personal choice.

Kinda surprised by the reactions here. Okuda is a renowned spanish contemporary artist who already has a piece on a building in San An.
His work can be found all over the world. Off course it's a matter of taste....Personally I like his work.
And about the politics...well looks like it's all EU funded money that pays for this work, doesn't really hurt anyone unless perhaps the people that will be high on acid seeing this street come to live :D
