The building formerly known as Space --> HÏ Ibiza

with this huge lineup for HI who are they gonna bring for ushuaia opening? usually also an underground affair ...

I have to say I think that's a fantastic opening lineup. I really hope that is a sign of things to come at Hi, but we all know Ushuaia have a habit of throwing out blinders for the opening and closing, but letting us down during the season.
Very good line up indeed! But that is something I would like to know, why do Ushuasia use there opening and closings for "Underground Music" when the majority of there nights are EDM? That's kinda like amnesia opening with David Guetta

My educated guess would be the demographic of people on the island at that time ie. not teeny boopers into EDM. Unlike August/peak season.

Voorn, Fanciulli, Oliva, Kolsch, Squillace, Tanzmann, Bas Ibellini - this is ANTs in all but name. (not that that is necessarily a bad thing)

Makes sense to include Black Coffee (they will need to build him up as much as possible). And Luciano is clearly going to be heavily involved throughout the season

right so we spoke to the mastermind behind hï this very morning. and without giving too much away, here are a few pointers...

I have to say I think that's a fantastic opening lineup. I really hope that is a sign of things to come at Hi, but we all know Ushuaia have a habit of throwing out blinders for the opening and closing, but letting us down during the season.

it is a very solid line up indeed. it's also a sign of things to come yes, but keep in mind what @El_Diablo said earlier in this thread - the mix of 'commercial vs underground' in programming will be about 60/40. definitely don't expect 5 out of 7 nights to be techno or tech house, but I guess most people on here weren't expecting that anyway. the rest of the residencies shall be announced soon. for the underground fans on here, there will certainly be decent events on apart from the already announced black coffee saturday nighter. and once the programming is out, you'll probably actually agree it's a decent mix of styles when you compare it to the other big venues on the island. look at pacha, they've got 3 underground nights, 3 very commercial ones and one special one with flower power. similar situation for amnesia, 3 techno nights, 3 mainstream ones, one 'special' one with hilton. so in that sense it'll be pretty similar.

as for the club - again without giving anything away - really simply try to forget space. I know that for many it'll be hard because of all the memories (it'll be the same for me I'm sure when I walk towards hï on the night of the opening party), but the club is really transforming a lot. they don't try to keep on being space and that's IMO also the best thing they could do. having seen mockups, I'm keen to see it live when they open. let's be honest - we all know ushuaïa group don't do things halfway and as a clubbing space it'll be great - obviously everything will be brand new. so if new clubs and modern design isn't your thing and you like dirty and dark basements and sweat dripping from the walls and roof, then you probably won't be a massive fan. but go see for yourself just as I will.

I've never made a secret about the fact that, speaking as a clubber, I'm not the biggest fan of ushuaïa - mainly because of its music policy and the crowd it attracts 6 out of 7 days, but also because of its festival-like setup with stage, pyrotechnics etc etc etc, it's just not for me... and you all also know I loved space. but still, with having a massive session at space closing last year, I've accepted that the only constant is change and I can definitely picture myself going to hï every now and then. obviously I won't be going to the commercial nights, but the other ones...sure. same as I did with space really.

Squillace, Tanzmann, Bas Ibellini and Black Coffee are much more relative to a Circo Loco line up than Ants, no?

Re: San Jose getting tough thread...hope this is not a sign of things to come for DC10 and just an opening line up thing

Black Coffee, Tanzmann and old Davide Squilly all stolen from the ranks of Circo Loco. Wondering if this will effect their status over there if at all.

Maybe they're more synonymous with Circoloco, true. But they've played Ushuaia numerous occasions. If not for ANTs, then for La Familia.

well, I wouldn't expect black coffee to play dc10 this year since he's now got a residency at hï. as for the others, they've played other parties at ibicenco clubs before. tanzmann played amnesia opening in the past and ANTS too. same goes for squillace. both of them aren't exclusive to dc10 and have never been I believe.

Totally agree. Tanzmann always played a night with Carl Cox, they all played for Ants at times, etc. I just would associate them more as Circo Loco artists coming up and think that is more how they are known (could of course be wrong or just my opinion).

no of course you're right there. matthias and davide are definitely being considered as dc10 regulars. and without having any inside info on this, I'm just guessing that won't actually change.

Separately but still related, Andrea Oliva b2b Davide Squillace found them to be very boring at the Ants party for BPM this year (set is up on Be-At Tv if anyones is interested). Matthias Tanzmann played what i thought was one of the best sets of the week even if only hour and a half (slightly subjective as he is a favorite of mine though).

You guys think that Kölsch good have is own night? Really like his sets! Like him more then Black Coffee.....

I have the same issue with him (Kölsch) as I do Andrea Olivia. Hear them once a year and they are good. But it's the same every time from my experience.
