magaluf doesn't have any 'proper' clubs so you can't even start this comparison. we're really talking about two different things here.

that said, mallorca is a stunning island. a shame that, same as in ibiza where people just stay a week in PdB or San An, they never get out of those resorts and miss all the beauty of the island.

Ibiza is a little bit like Formula 1...

I remember the glory years of getting dirty feet, you left with your ears ringing, the element of danger during a "carry on", the smell of smoke and daytime racing.

Nowadays its all a bit clinical , Miami/Dubai esque , night time racing and mostly computer aided.

I'm just going to put my defense of Majorca out there!
A beautiful island, and for me it was the perfect entry level place! I think I would have been totally overwhelmed with working Ibiza if I hadn't been to Majorca before.

Yeah it's cheap and cheerful - but a whole load of fun too!

I personally don't think the VIP culture should affect your night out - you simply just shouldn't let it. Enjoy yourself and don't give a second thought about anyone else apart from the people you're with...

Nor do I, but people are infatuated with it on here ! And I couldn't agree more.

And Ibiza is nothing like Dubai either, digital signage is everywhere, some good, some....very bad

I agree with this statement. But the money VIP pulls in does subsidize the cost for the non-VIPs in certain places. Pacha?

I also think a lot of ppl on here are quick to tar everybody in VIP with the same brush. ie. not there for the music and arrogant. Which I do not believe to be true in my experience.

On the scale of things, I've met far more knobhead non-VIPs on the dancefloor than I have VIPs. In Ibiza and elsewhere.

Sure. You do get that element. And it's an easy leap to make VIP = self-importance = jerk.

I just find it's avoidable if it bothers you that much. If you really feel you can't avoid it, then the venue isn't for you. Therefore = don't go

You can discuss the vips charitable donations,,marketing, marketing, branding,marketing, branding,overpriced dj's and how they're very important to Ibiza and the club scene. Champagne,sparklers and complementary bottles of grey goose.

Well isn't BCM classed as one of the best clubs in the world? pretty sure that is a 'proper' club
 
Clara is right though - the kids don't know what they missed. think about it - a dancefloor is probably the only place on earth where you don't judge people by accent or class or pay bracket. they could be a duke or a plumber or a whore or a florist. you don't know. you don't care. that is - or was- part of the fun and actually changed society for the better...
