The building formerly known as Space --> HÏ Ibiza

andrea oliva posted the same video (well, with him instead of BC). expect more announcements like this coming out.

correct, ibiza has always been pricey compared to other spanish destinations.

'VIP' doesn't help the feel or vibe here, I honestly couldn't disagree more.
Im sure you already know this as you are part of the business...there is no party without the crowd, but there is no profit without the VIPs.

VIP doesn't effect my stay so it doesn't bother me. The only thing I thought was a joke was Café Mambo minimum spend per head if you would like to eat there.....but people pay it I guess

Ibiza is so seasonal so the money is made 6 months a year which is probably why we pay what we pay

It's a bit mad that you object to the Cafe Mambo minimum spend but have no problem with the VIP stuff. The minimum spend isn't that expensive (compared to VIP stuff). Mambo has gone downhill for me but it's still a nice spot, nice food, good drinks with table service, can potentially get to sit and enjoy a really good DJ who'd you pay £££ to see in a club. And no-one is forcing it on you and you can still enjoy the spot on the rocks if you like. Whereas the VIP stuff, it's slowly spreading and edging out the standard, average clubbing/Ibiza experience. And if it keeps on growing then it will start to effect people's stay, people who won't/can't have any part in it. This isn't a dig by the way, just interesting to see other people's perspectives.

If you go to the clubs, it effects you. Some of the VIP crowd is fine, they are usually older clubbers who are into the music, but just want room to breathe. However the majority of the VIPs enjoy posing and bring a bad vibe. These are the types that have a shirtless pic as their avatar :D

What I mean is....The VIP area in Space/Amnesia and if there is one at Ushuaia....Does not spoil my fun.
I even had a bloody good crack at Ocean Beach club again not effected by those paying what I paid for my total holiday on a bed

I still would go and sit down at Café mambo and do what you suggested but yes objected to spending min 80euro. I guess in that respect it disappointed me because I would have liked to eat there but ultimately it didn't spoil my time down there

I leave my phone at the hotel and dance for 6 hours....topless with foreign girls trying to dance with me - everything the bottle popping VIP payers want. You should thank me :)

Is Black Coffee a big enough draw to have his own residency on the island?

if it's on the right evening, the right circumstances, then it can work. and it will do so.

there is no profit without the VIPs.

this is only correct for places that spend a lot on production as well as on overly expensive artists.

places like DC10 on the island and elsewhere in the world (basically all of berlin for example) show us that you can perfectly work and earn some decent money without being depending on money coming from VIP. and I believe that space also earned some money when they had no VIP yet.

having said that, I am totally aware that nowadays, if you spend 6 digits on artists, you have to have VIP income. and I don't have a big problem with that. the only thing I actually said is that I don't think the whole VIP culture actually 'helps' ibiza and its vibe.

Just a thought I had....if Ibiza was as cheap as the likes of Magaluf.....Don't you think it would spoil the place?

Ibiza to me was always known to be pricey growing up and many opted for Greek islands or the likes of Magaluf

I think VIP or this sort of 'middle class' feel about Ibiza keeps the place decent like it is

If I started seeing people puking on their t-shirt and swinging it around above their head while holding a Stella shouting 'Who are ya'. It would put me off the place

I like the ideas of places like Hi/Ushuaia because you don't get that carry on there

What a load of complete bollocks!

Absolutely clueless...

Clueless.

It was you who opted for magaluf and the Greek Islands wasn't it. Because you obviously wasn't going to Ibiza was you?

Growing up I knew a lot of people and had a lot of friends and Ibiza as a holiday was never mentioned or done

I went to the places that were popular or known as a 'lads holiday'.

A lot more people travel to Majorca than they do Ibiza to date and if you want Ibiza to be like Magaluf. Cheap and no VIP. It would be a shit hole

Not clueless son
