The building formerly known as Space --> HÏ Ibiza

Why is everyone assuming Hi is going to have a majority programme of EDM nights? They already have most the big acts tied up for day parties and I doubt any of them have the pull for a night time event on top of their day residency?

Guetta can but he is loyal to Pacha; I'm assuming DV&LM shall be back at Amnesia then who does that really leave you with?

I'll admit the depth of my knowledge on EDM nowadays is not the best, but you haven't really got a lot of big hitters left? Maybe Calvin Harris + Steve Angello.
60/40

Calvin Harris is too much expensive for a weekly residency.

Maybe Steve Angello.

Another possible names: Nicky Romero, Afrojack (I think he was not succes on Amnesia residency a few years ago), Steve Aoki (he has worked on Ushuaia and has many fans), Alesso (could be his first residency on Ibiza), Kygo, Zeed, Nervo...

Do not forget that sundays on Ushuaia are empty after Avicii retirement.

Rise up Ibiza. Drive them into the sea. Get your island back

Just a thought I had....if Ibiza was as cheap as the likes of Magaluf.....Don't you think it would spoil the place?

Ibiza to me was always known to be pricey growing up and many opted for Greek islands or the likes of Magaluf

I think VIP or this sort of 'middle class' feel about Ibiza keeps the place decent like it is

If I started seeing people puking on their t-shirt and swinging it around above their head while holding a Stella shouting 'Who are ya'. It would put me off the place

I like the ideas of places like Hi/Ushuaia because you don't get that carry on there

yes, basic economics dictates that Ibz will always be expensive so long as it's in demand.

the type of clubbing, the type of marketing and the type of clientele is something that can be better regulated though

correct, ibiza has always been pricey compared to other spanish destinations.

'VIP' doesn't help the feel or vibe here, I honestly couldn't disagree more.
I totally agree. The behaviour of sections of the VIP area in Pacha last year for Solomun was beyond a joke. Up until that point I'd been fairly indifferent about the whole thing. It's certainly not my bag and I'd not taken much notice of it. However, after that night my opinion swung the other way.

On that evening, contingents of the VIP area were coming onto an already busy dancefloor, shoving people out of the way with general arrogance to make their own space within a communal space. If that wasn't bad enough I also noticed on a number of occasions after barging enough people about, some of them would just stand there!!!

The island is defiantly pricing the real music lovers out imo. That goes for accom, drinks and club tickets.

Each year they go up just that little bit more. And it's unjustifiable really; people moan about Guetta and his extortionate enterance fees to pacha but last year I had a group of friends who went to Solomun +1 in august and paid nearly €70 each. I love solomun in pacha but I wouldn't pay that.

VIP doesn't effect my stay so it doesn't bother me. The only thing I thought was a joke was Café Mambo minimum spend per head if you would like to eat there.....but people pay it I guess

Ibiza is so seasonal so the money is made 6 months a year which is probably why we pay what we pay
