I was really surprised to see the Pacha's dancefloor very full and packed last night at 00:50 already @ Flower Power. Early bird tickets and drink deals seem to draw the crown. Weird that balcony upstairs was almost empty at the same time Maybe new Pacha people don't know the upstairs even exists..

Is Bora Uzer popular with the Spanish?

Apologies for breaking away from the suggested format. But we didn't do enough to fill all categories in.


Cheeky 3 night trip for me and wife. June 19th until the 22nd.


Stayed at the Algarb on PDB beach. Really enjoyed our stay here. The pool area was spot on and the close proximity to the sea was perfect. Both pool and sea temperature were spot on for a dip when needed. The rooms were fairly basic but clean and tidy. Would definitely stay again. Only had Bed and breakfast, but this was a decent spread. So would assume lunch and dinner being the same.


The trip itself was about chilling out. We went for a walk along the beach towards Jet etc when we arrived. Just to see the changes. New shopping area etc.

First night we got a very long taxi ride to the Boat House restaurant north of the island. Unfortunately the distance took a bit away from the experience. We should have taken more time to look around the area after. But we knew we had a drive to get back(my fault). Live and learn. Nice food though.

Second day was a walk from PDB to Ibiza town. We've done this a few times in the past. Weirdly this time , the walk seemed shorter. No idea why. It was very hot though. So grateful to sit by the boats and grab a beer.

The highlight for us was actually enjoying Figueretes. Maybe it was our older age. But we enjoyed the more chilled vibe here this time.


And the good thing about the Algarb hotel is, the beach entrance is the start of the coastal path bit that takes you to Hotel Torre del Mar and the start of Figueretes. Passing the beach bar and restaurants on the way. Nice place for a glass of wine on way to the main strip.


We'll be returning next year with the kids again. Most likely the holiday village. But the Algarb along with the Garbi are now our two main go to hotels if did ever get away from the kids again.

Best/worst night: All great to be fair but Ants was main actual reason for the trip as it had Voorn, Franky Wah (two of my favourite DJs) and Arodes who I'd never seen before but love his tracks so was very interested

Got in at 5.30 just went Arodes started and he played the set of the holiday trip. Such an uplifting melodic sound, if you enjoy his productions definitely go to see him. He finished with his break-out tune "Kids".. epic moment.
Franky Wah played slightly darker than usual, including his new Crosstown Rebels tune, still great. Joris was melodic Joris. I know he can sometimes go down the more dull tech house route (like when he plays Elrow for example), but he was definitely playing more melodies this time, he played a remix of Messy - Lola Young I'd not heard before, really good. Also played a few of his new album tracks, so good.
We left as Boris brejcha started, sounded ok but 5 hours of nonstop dancing was enough to start with.

Circoloco was a close 2nd, one of the best I've been to in years. I've recently thought circoloco have had weaker (or at least less bangin) Garden DJ's and cramming the best at 1am to 5am when inside is too full to dance. I noticed earlier in month this trend looks to have changed and having Adriatique at 9pm this week was so good. Even when we walked in at 6.30 the tunes were amazingly good so huge praise to Sossa, Mink and Adriatique. Shame it was too hot in the sun to properly dance till 8 or so, but once the shade hit the main dancefloor it was going off till the end.
Left Garden dancefloor at 10.30 to see Adam Port from 11pm to 1am. Great set from Adam with loads of room (at the start when we could get a good spot at least), he left the vocal afro-house behind and playing less Keinemusic style and more solo Adam Port style, generally tougher with heavy base. A few people in headscarves were upset he didnt go down the KM style i think He did play another remix of Messy - Lola Young which i enjoyed.
Was pretty much done by the end of Adam, so like the Ants day we managed to get 5 solid hours of dancing and left early!

Saga was good too as mentioned on other threads, particualrly enjoyed Jimi Jules and Trikk, driving tunes all round. Nice busy too, room to dance but great atmosphere. Hope it does well this year.



Best place to eat:
Tried Can Mario for the first time in Figueretas, highly recommended for steak, so tasty and tender. My favourite steak place that part of the island.
Also tried a new place on Figueretas called Ciento80 towards the ibiza Town end, very nice. A bit on the pricey side compared to others in area but food was delicious.


Best beach and/or beach club: Playa Soleil on tuesday was nice, good food and saw the Raices night starting to kick off, will give it a proper try next time

Money spent: Too much

Biggest regret: No

Going back?: silly question

Observations and/or conclusion:

Hoping Circoloco please keep having some headliners early. Means people on older side like myself can enjoy a great dance under the sun and catch some early doors set inside and leave early without the need to wait it out till 5am till it empties out a little.

Pleased i gave UNVRS a miss in the end, if anything this holiday reminded me, best to follow the music and DJs and not a venue just for the sake of it.

Where you stayed: 4 nights San Antonio (Apartmentos El Moro) 4 nights Cala Llonga (Apartamento Cala Llonga Playa).

Club nights visited: Only one night out this trip (Pikes, for David Morales).

We went to Sant Joan for The festival on the 23rd, and had a blast as always! It's now a family tradition.

Family also had an afternoon early dinner with DJ friends at WOM. I bumped into @TiffyBarrett who is even more beautiful in person.

Saw Sa Trinxa and his final set on Ibiza and spent the solstice at Benirras.

Best night: Pikes (only club night)

Worst night: None

Best bar: Bar Anita, where I picked up my Hierbas

Best place to eat: La Paloma Café is always my favorite meal

Best beach and/or beach club: I will always have my favorites, but my first trip to Cala Bassa ever was impressive.

Money spent: +/- $4000 USD (flights, hotel , car food for family of four, but keeping it simple) from USA for 8 days

Biggest regret: Still haven't done a proper night at Las Dalias... Missed Hernan Cattaneo

Going back?: I will return as long as I can...

Top tip: Just go, life is too short....

Observations and/or conclusion: This was my shortest trip with family. Unfortunately 8 days was not enough. I have done shorter solo and as couple. Kids being kids will slow you down. I hope to get back to 2-3 week stays, but I had bigger fish to fry as I bought a home one week after returning (this week).

Biggest regret:
Not going out Friday night after Sa Trinxa. Not getting the boys to Amnesia.

Going back?: absolutely, my boys already planning next year.

Observations and/or conclusion: Backdrop. We moved to USA from England 13 years ago, and my eldest turned 18 this summer and is off to college. He’s massive into house music, likes to DJ and was desperate to go to Ibiza. We decided to take him and his younger brother (16) before he heads off to college this summer. I’m pleasantly surprised that he has got into house so much, and I guess nature over nurture as non of his friends listen to it, so I’m taking credit for that.

I haven’t been to Ibiza since 2009, so I knew it was going to be “different” and had to stop myself from giving them the spiel about “the old days” on multiple occasions..

I didn’t even give getting the younger one into clubs a thought, until I started to read on here that things were different there these days. Anyway, youngest had “ID” that was accepted at Pacha first night, and after that he wasn’t asked again until Glitterbox. They wouldn’t let him in without passport, but also then wouldn’t let my eldest in either even though he is 18 (6ft 2 with full stubble haha) , had his real US Drivers license and picture of British passport. The notion that you can be British and living in America was lost on the doormen. Head guy told me to go back to the hotel (30 mins each way at 1am) and as we were leaving at 10 am the next day we just left. Disappointing end to the weekend but it is what it is, I get they have rules (okay, I don’t get it, Ibiza has never had rules) but the way the treat you with such contempt is a little unnecessary in my opinion. I’d paid for the tickets up front as well. There was another lady having the same issue with her two lads and she had paid out for drinks package as well.

But enough of the small bad part: the trip was fantastic. Defected at Pacha first night was brilliant. Both boys asked for ID but they showed it and it was fine.
Drinks package in Pacha is a great deal, as we were not sure about getting in I just had them added to mine and my wife’s ticket, and water for the boys ticket.
Drinks were measured, not free pour, and I have to say they don’t seem full strength, despite the vodka being CIROC. I know this as the missus is not one of life’s big drinkers and when gauging if we should allow our younger son to have one she said that she could tell it wasn’t affecting her like she would expect. Side note, bought 4 vodka + Fanta limon after we used the package and it was €96, same measured pour and same “strength”.
TBH I’m not complaining about the strength, as it was actually really enjoyable to just have a buzz on and not be drunk, I’m more saying that as part of the review for others.

Friday we hit Sa Trinxa for Jon’s second to last set. Absolutely great afternoon and I was thrilled that the boys enjoyed it as much as they did. It was great to give them some idea of what parts of Ibiza used to be like.
We don’t end up going out that night, had intended to go Reboot at Eden, and in hindsight wish we had due to the Hi issue.

Saturday we went over to San Antonio, had dinner in Relisb and then went to Saturday at 528. Again, I wanted them to experience the outdoor side of going out but it was very quiet when we arrived just after 9, and they only had a small area outside of the indoor club open. It wasn’t the full on terrace as I had thought it might. Hopefully this night picks up more through the summer, but it’s definitely one aimed at us older lot. We stayed until about 12ish and I gave the kids the option of staying or going to Flower Power. It’s been on my list to go to every time, and I’d never made it previously.
They decided they would prefer that so we jumped in a taxi to Pacha and what a great night jt was. Learned from the previous night and loaded 5 drink package in to each ticket and with entry before 1 it was €80 each. Which I think is good value.
Roger Sanchez was great. The boys loved it. Heard a lot of tunes they wanted to hear across the weekend and they have both declared they want to go back next year and take their friends as well.
My eldest said Ibiza is the best place in the world and he wants to live there. So the magic of the island does still exist, it’s just different for us older lot is all.
One thing I’ll add to this ramble, I’ve been to Ibiza a lot, enjoyed myself A LOT in the old fashioned way…but I honestly am not sure I’ve had as much fun as I did on this trip just drinking and having some good clean family fun.

The island a definitely at fork in the road, TNL are doing there thing and I know a lot of people are there for that, but I actually think there’s real opportunity for the other clubs if they take them on for price. They all seem to be doing it with the drinks packages, but I don’t see why Pacha doesn’t just say €13 or €15 for a mixed drink and leave it at that. I think they would get people have 5-10 drinks easily, vs many of them sticking to just the 5 drinks package. Es paradis amd Eden I’m sure will be busy through the summer, it’s just going to be harder work for them and they need to get creative.

Yeah it was a long way but went straight into Madrid with Iberia, and then short flight over from there, so wasn’t too bad. With the 6 hour time difference we felt like we just stayed on US time while we were there.

One of those lies that, after being repeated so many times, some people ended up believing and that reminds me of an article published on today's DDI.

There are those who believe Ibiza is a lawless island where you can do whatever you want between parties. Usually, they're tourists (...). Tourism cannot continue to be synonymous with impunity. And we cannot continue to tolerate this type of behavior here with a forced smile in the name of the economy.

One of those lies that, after being repeated so many times, some people ended up believing and that reminds me of an article published on today's DDI.

There are those who believe Ibiza is a lawless island where you can do whatever you want between parties. Usually, they're tourists (...). Tourism cannot continue to be synonymous with impunity. And we cannot continue to tolerate this type of behavior here with a forced smile in the name of the economy.

Yeah, I was being flippant, rules isn’t the right term here, and there’s always been the Guardia Civil in Spain and Ibiza and you never want to deal with them.
I guess I mean that there used to be a more relaxed attitude to certain things, but you could probably say that about most places now.

Dates you were there: 30th June to 10th july

Where you stayed: Playa Bella San An Bay

Club nights visited: music on with ANOTR and pyramid with hawtin

Best night: pyramid with hawtin, mentioned already but so glad we ditched UNVRS for this. Great crowd, perfect business and Richie ripped the roof off the place. Music on was good and enjoyed ANOTR but the place was absolutely rammed.

Worst night: none, its ibiza ffs who can have a bad night!

Best bar: had the kids so didn't do too many. Bull bar in the bay was the end point for half the nights and always a good laugh and plenty to keep the kids amused.

Best place to eat: I could go on for days with this. In the bay Relish is absolutely outstanding for Tapas and there is an Italian called ausorio or something that we ended up in twice coz the kids said it did the best pizza in the world hahaha.

Kasbah is a constant on our itenary and amazing as always. We did a lunch at al ayoun as well which was tremendous.

La plaza in ibiza town was so good. Fab location and the staff were super friendly.

and i dont know if this is a hidden gem or not but there is a place called Tik Tak in the bay which does the best breakfasts on the island as far as im concerned. Toast, serrano ham, rocket and mozzarella, dynamite!

Best beach and/or beach club: reggae bar in the bay, cracking wee beach and the cocktails are superb.

Money spent: stopped counting on day 2

Biggest regret: not doing 2 weeks

Going back?: always

Top tip: we hired a boat for the sunset and its the best experience ever. Highly recommended.

Conclusion: times change, people change, but the island will always have something for everyone and even after 23 years visiting I always leave with stuff still on my list I didn't squeeze in which gives me a reason to keep coming back.

We've just got back early hours last night and it's chuffing hotter.

Anyway brief rundown...

We were to stay in Hotel Figueretas 5th to 12th July but moved last minute to the Cenit where we stayed, and liked, in April. Just as good. Everything is great, pool, staff, location.

Reason for moving was the forecast and Hotel Fig not having aircon. 100% the right move.

Only had tickets for Camelphat but ended up doing Glitterbox and Defected as well.

Had ideas of going across to do Pikes but was too hot. Due to the heat didn't go too far afield.

Best food was Can Jesper in Fig. Tuna Tataki and the Iberco jamón was top notch.

Honorable mention to Vi as well for some Asian Fusion.

Bars we hit on the "quiet" nights were El Santo and Paradise Lost. Both good places to laze about but also to pre-game for a club.

I'm liking the UNVRS effect as Hï and Pacha were quieter but still a good critical mass. Whether the owners like it I'm not sure but for a customer, more of this please

Only slightly regret not getting to Cova Santa for the Soundgarden and maybe 528 for Groove Armada.

Roughly £2700 I think for two including hotel, tickets and food / drink.

Vi is good food.. 4th yrs in a row this September staying in fig. Best area l think, nice and local too..
