Tell us how it was - Ibiza 2025

Lol holiday is off to a cracking start. Staying at a hotel that shall remain nameless, got checked in and took a disco nap (been traveling for just shy of 24 hrs). Woke up and started putting clothes away, opened a drawer and found someone had left ~ 1/2 a gram of Columbia's finest crushed out on a card and ten euro note rolled up next to it.

Comedy or tragedy?

I wonder how many DMs @B_Falls has had about this as to whether the drawer find got sampled or not

Ok, so lets put a bow on the evening. I love Akasha, but it was incredibly weak sauce this evening. The opener played really well, I'm not sure of her name (she had a couple moments where she mismixed) but nothing major, solid opener- would definitely go back for.

It was very slow earlier, I showed up ~1045 knowing I would be missing the garden parry, couldn't be helped- I'm old. I walked into the garden expecting a packed house/primed crowd- nada/nope. Dead AF.

I legitimately thought they had canceled the night, it was just that dead. It was me, a dude with a ladder, and a club with the lights on.

Ok. Whatever, I roll on, grab a drink at the bar in the restaurant and start chatting with the bartender- he tells me they always close the garden earlier on Friday? Ok, wowsers. Hang out until 2330 and head into the club, and it's dead. Musically it's OK, not the openers fault she's playing light, but still very quiet.

Ok, whatever, let's have some fun- grab some drinks, chat up the peeps, etc. After and hour not much really shifts, at least the tunes got louder. It's almost 1am, still very dead and I decided to bail. Grabbed a taxi and chatted with a great local dude, hat's off to all my dude's driving people like me around.

I land in bossa, the megaclubs lineups are crap, so I end up at Rumors/playa soleil.

Holy shit. I was there last year and it was good, they have absolutely been at it and it is INCREDIBLE. Musically it was good (super prog, house, etc), not great, but how they have the club now is absolutely amazing. They blew out behind where the dj was last year, have an upstairs, and a great sound system. For what my ticket cost (before I canceled it - 25 euro) I don't think it can be beat.

I bailed early because I'm old need my beauty sleep, but without question- get yourself to playa soleil, it's 100% worth the price of admission.

For this wondering, Vodka redbull was 17, Vodka soda was 15 then 17, not sure on accuracy- I'm going to pretend the bartender was confused by my charm...

Yes passing on the passion. Although the cleaners are obvs crap at their jobs 😂

Dates you were there: July 15-22

Where you stayed: Marian Apartments, San Antonio

Club nights visited: David Morales @ Pikes, Clockwork Orange @ Es Paradis, Clockwork Orange beach party

Best night: Clockwork Orange beach party

Worst night: Not so much a worst night as we did not have a bad night, more of a saddest night! My girlfriend had never been to Ibiza so the first night we took it relatively easy and did a walk around San An, starting from Golden Buddah for sunset, then around the sunset strip, around the harbour down as far as Itaca, then back through the West End. I wanted to show her some of my old haunts I used to hang around in when not clubbing. Seeing the The Orange Corner (Kiwi Bar) replaced by a restaurant was quite sad. Itaca was one for my favourite bars but has lost it's charm now. Then back through the West End, no more Tropis, Hush, Kilties, Joe Spoons, etc was a bit sad. Though I do like the new art work.

Best bar: Didn't go to many bars apart from that first night, but did enjoy a few in Shenanigans.

Best place to eat: San An Thai

Best beach and/or beach club: Tanit Beach club

Money spent: 1,400EUR (excluding flights and accommodation)

Biggest regret: Going for a week instead of 10 days!

Going back?: I've been going for 27 years so why stop now! Will probably be back in 2027 though.

Top tip: As always, get out and about. We enjoyed some lovely days out off the beaten track.

Observations and/or conclusion: Having been to Ibiza every year from 1998 to 2019, but only once since then (2022) I could not help to make comparisons to now and "back in the day". And while the changes have been massive over the last 10 years, Ibiza still does hold it's own charm. I did not want to go clubbing every night like before, so did not get to most of the big clubs. The Clockwork Orange events were perfect for what I was looking for. Great crowd and even though I have heard 80% of the tunes before, that suited the vibe perfectly. Pikes on Wednesday was really good too. We got there around 9pm and enjoyed some drinks by the pool before being the first 2 in the door of Freddies. Had some great days out too, and found a nice new spot for Es Vedra views and sunset. Overall really enjoyed the week, Ibiza still has "it"! Oh and it was hot, very very hot!

Dates you were there: July 23-26

Where you stayed: Hostal La Torre. All very slick and it is gorgeous. If you are a repeat guest and you book before the end of Feb you can get up to 25% off. We only had 1 sunset there in the end and there was a pissed up nob playing "Ninetoes..Finder" on his phone at the business end of the sunset...took a lot of strength not to make a scene. Not 100% sure I'll return to stay...would maybe look for somewhere with a pool next time.

Club nights visited: Pikes on the Thursday night - was "Back to Mine" with Fat Tony...not what I would usually go for but it was a last minute call after a massive lunch and then subsequent carry on with the bad weather meaning beach/sunset was off the agenda. We had a good time and it wasn't crazy busy. Crowd was mainly brits of a certain age but everyone was chatty and friendly. Stickers on phones on entry and this worked well.

Best night: See above. Initially was going to be a non clubbing trip with plenty of r&r so we had no other plans to go out...I knew it would be one night out at best for the trip...had eyes on Sven at Woomoon on the Friday but we felt rough from Pikes!

Worst night: N/A

Best bar: La Torre

Best place to eat: We ate at Cala Gracioneta, Pomelo Playa, Aquarium Cap Blanc and Chiringuito Es Cavallet. Food was great at cala gracioneta - we had a lovely occasion meal for wifes bday...Same went for chiringuito where we had the arroz negro. Best experience by far though was the sardinera at cap blanc aquarium...bill was under 70 euros and we ate and drank all we wanted, the food was delicious and the service was warm and genuine.

Best beach and/or beach club: Cala Gracio/gracioneta....had planned to go to cala tarida but we felt rough the day after pikes. Es Cavallet was nice but there was lots of seaweed.

Money spent: Probs towards 2000 euros when you add it all up.

Biggest regret: Not doing the planned day on Friday, although we had fun on Thursday night so everything is a balance!

Going back?: Always....October for the Sven closing at Akasha.

Top tip: Sardines at Cap Blanc Aquarium!

Observations and/or conclusion: Its all becoming very money orientated...I probably sound like a hypocrite as ive been to some spenny places and I'm happy to spend more for a treat on an occasion but not sure you are getting the value you used to...The hotel now only lets you stay 3 nights minimum when it used to be 2, and the price for breakfast to be included is more per person per day than the set breakfast on the menu. You are getting a whatsapp message reminding you to check out on the night before you are leaving. It's a little impersonal when you are a returning guest and you have forked out a lot to stay there..Pomelo playa, food and service was good but its a bit odd - the sort of place that probably used to be a nice chiringuito and now serves wagyu burgers..."El Chiringuito" was a hefty min spend for 2 sunbeds...I need to do a bit more homework and find somewhere nice where you can book a sunbed but you aren't constantly reminded that you need to spend x amount to enjoy it...hopefully such a place exists!
